In most schools with which I’m familiar, kids are not supposed to have cell phones in class. If they bring them, they’d better be turned off. I confiscated a phone or two for failure to abide thereby. And as I told the kids, give it up peacefully and you’ll probably get it back at the end of class. Give me a hard time and it’s mine until I get it to the office, at which point an assistant principal will call your parents and one of them will have to come to school and claim your phone.
