My first car was a 1968 Volkswagan Bug. One night I lost control and ran it into a tree at 30 mph, Ain’t no restoring that puppy. Scrapped many, many years ago. Sniff. Sob.
I remember a 1960 Chevy Impala Sport Sedan(Flat Top) it was a ‘battleship’ Silver with white trim and red and white ’Houndstooth) upholstery loved that car until my Dad traded for a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda but that is another story.
my first car was a second hand ’70 Buick Skylark. baby blue. still had the name of the first owner and the address of where he bought the car in the glove compartment.
1951 2 door Ford straight 6. About 4 years after I got may parents gave it away (registered in their name) while I was in the navy. The battery had died and the tires were flat.
’’57 Beetle. I hope someone turned it into a dune buggy, it always thought it was an off-road vehicle – even had it on sand dunes with normal air pressure in the tires. Family got too big (dimensions, not numbers).
My first was a ’54 Pontiac Star Chief, which my parents sold out from under me when I went into the Navy. Grump – I still miss that thing.
Later, I owned a ’68 Mercedes 280, which had sat out in a field for five years. Great car, totally ruined by sitting out there – the floor was mostly rust after that. Not a good idea.
@Michael; That Mercedes wouldn’t have been the one on Rte 365 near Holland Patent, would it? I told that guy he oughta park it somewhere dry, but "aw, it won’t hurt nothin’ was his attitude.
55 Chevy. Put it out in the field to do something some day. The frame got turned into a hay wagon. The rest scrapped. I still have fond memories of it.
‘64 Olds F85 (pre-cutlas), mother used to back into posts, brother got it hit by a truck and smashed up driver’s side back door and rear quarter panel, I smashes front fender – This was in the late ’60s early ’70s – called it the “DMZ”. Drove and repaired it mechanically until I graduated from college. Had to shift the auto trans to low to get it going, but could get it up to over 100 on a straight-away. Even suprised some cops I knew. Miss that old beast- but had to sell her when I went to work.

I gave mine to charity. The car was fine, but the parts got too expensive.
