Arlo and Janis by Jimmy Johnson for March 22, 2013

Transcript:
Arlo: I detect hints of antioxidants, with a trace of anti-inflammatories!
Arlo: And is that...? It is! A tantalizing taste of immortality!
Janis: Maybe you've had enough Resveratrol for now!!
BTW, you can get resveratrol from unfermented grape juice, too, without the alcohol. That means you can drink enough juice to get an even larger quantity of resveratrol, and still be able to drive safely. That is not to mention other sources that don’t get mentioned when people are praising wine. Don’t put me down as simply a prude. Alcohol, in excess, obviously has bad effects on cognitive function and motor control. If you’re going to drink wine, drink responsibly, and don’t use the “good” effects as an excuse to overindulge!
Enough scolding. Back-when, the late Paul Harvey announced the fact that just plain grape juice had twice the anti-whatevers in it, the price of such tripled. I used to think a cynic was a place to do the dinner dishes, but I’m beginning to wonder about ‘scientific studies’ as advertised in USA Weekend and their always-happy news for ‘under thirty gullibles’…. bah.
gocomicsmember: I noticed the wine story got a solid week of rave reviews, late night comic mentions, etc., but the grape juice got a one-day coverage. Either the corporate media is a bunch of winos, or they want us to be.
It never ceases to amaze me how many of the comments miss what the strip is all about. Here, Arlo’s putting on an act that he’s having some wine for health’s sake, when in fact he just wants to enjoy having a glass of the grape. Janis, as usual, sees right through him, suggesting—seriously or not—that maybe he’s had enough of reseratrol (by which she means wine). He is,after all, acting as if he’s a bit over-stimulated. Capiche, guys?

Awe, let him go Janis….What does the word enough mean anyway?

Actually, when us kids got carried away playing too rough or something, my folks would say, “Enough is enough, too much is not enough….”

And before the gramarians jump on me, the corporate media is monolithic and therefore takes the singular. Media in general is plural.

If you want to spend a lot of money (I have no idea if it WILL make you live forever), Amazon has all sorts of Resveratrol pills for sale.
