Not to worry kids, this generation knows all about Snoopy and Charlie Brown. They may not know the comic, but they still watch the TV specials. I also have the collection of the animated series. My kid knows about kite eating trees.
I’ve got 2 “Friends” … who will turn off the “Charlie Brown Christmas Special” when Linus asks for the lights to be dimmed. One told me “there is no way I’m letting my kids listen to that filth!” I grabbed the bag I’d left by the door with the presents for her and her husband, and walked out the door, leaving the gifts for her kids. When they couple asked why I was leaving so quick I reminded them I was Christian, and that what they said was offensive. I haven’t spoken to the wife for a few years now. The husband, I see at parties once in a while.
Maybe because it struck a chord with me at the time, but one of my all time favorite Peanuts strips was when Linus thought the first snow of the season was nuclear fallout. Those big-headed kids got us through the cold war.
