Transcript:
Phoebe: Mom, I have to go to a unicorn's birthday party and solve a mystery. What should I wear? Mom: I had the same dilemma at your age. Phoebe: Really? Mom: Of course not.
Seems to me, after I think about it, that my parents /were/ that cool when I was Phoebe’s age. Memory, I find, has a way of demonstrating poor judgment; I guess one faculty shouldn’t try to take on another’s job.
Since I’ve often mentioned “Barnaby” here, I should remark that today’s “Liō” (also here on GoComics) is a tribute to Crockett Johnson’s other great hit, “Harold and the Purple Crayon”.
Oh dear, PHE worried about outshining the unicorn again. If she worried about what to take to make the non bipeds happy she could really flummox Mom..Dare I submit some honey crisp apples and caramel dip? with a long serving stick so PHE won’t have to roll them in the dirt, and LSH won’t be tempted to leave his humilifying bush.

I think that has to be the default response to any question your kids ask, regardless of it it really happened or not. :)

On another note, I wonder just why this strip reminds me so much of “Bunheads”. They’re not at all alike, and yet, somehow, they are.

She should ask Millie’s mom.

For the party she could always wear what she wore to Dakota’s birthday party. For the mystery she could dress as Miss Marple or V.I. Warshawski.

I’m way late with this. I just wanted to say that I can’t put my finger on exactly why, but this is one of the most adorable things I’ve ever read.

You know, I think I like Phoebe’s parents better than Phoebe.
