Why do superheroes wear bright spandex costumes? Well, back in the 1930s circus performers wore bright tights and cloaks... So when they designed the Superman character he had circus-type clothes. A generation later, people quit asking why and it was just y'know tradition. See? Oh. The spandex allows for greatest freedom of movement and cuts in-flight air friction, plus, when they're made of unstable alien molecules...
