One thing I learned from going back and reading the Narbonic – Director’s Cut is that Shaenon plans a LONG way ahead (find a few of the strips she’s commented on as, e.g., “one of the earliest I drew”, and see just how far through the plot they are, to get an idea of what I mean). Things that in other strips might have been simple one-panel throw-aways often turn out months later to have been plot elements.
