Arlo: Did you hear about the guy who started "Amazon"? Arlo: He paid for an expedition to find the rocket engines from Apollo 11! Arlo: They've been rusting on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean for over 40 years! Janis: Far be it from me to say he has too much money...

Yep. Let’s make the minimum wage $50,000 an hour and then everybody can work one hour a week..

For the person who ‘has everything’, no life and too much money, the engines would make a great conversation piece, not to mention, great bragging rights!

If one wants to “fix” America then: 1. Set the tax rate at 10% on everyone and every dollar, 2. Stop all welfare. Corperate and individual 3. Stop all foreign aid. 4. Stop all pork barrel amendments to bills. 5. Force the government to balance the budget or be desolved and a new one elected with no past members eligible.Painful? Yes!Will it work? Yes!Will it pass? NO! Not with the elites in control.

Nice concern for history, and possibly a profit margin. It would be nice if he has that much money, he might foster a return to the Moon.

I don’t care how much money the guy has. Amazon has made my life easier in many ways, and saves me money.

I’ll say it, Lois. He has too much money. At least for this use.

I think its normal to have an opinion on how some people waste so much money when there are so many poor people around the world in need.

I did not mention that when Barry took over that gasoline was $1.83 per gallon. How is that “change” working out for you? You are right, in the last 4 years the price of energy has, in his words,“necessarily skyrocketed”!

What did Bezos really fund? A research vessel, its crew and oceanic scientists. I suspect there was additional data gathered even if the primary goal was the engine recovery.

Aaron, do you really think the President, or the minimum wage, affect the price of oil? good God.

He does have money, that HE chose to spend paying sailors, scientists, renting the boat . . . . HE employed many people to do work. I think that is a much better way to spend money than perpetuate a system designed to help people enough for them to survive, but without path or incentive to do more.
Very few rich people gather money together for it to just sit and do nothing. The only exception to this is when taxes are formatted in such a way that it is not economically smart to use it.

It’s not rocket science, but it at least started a conversation that has taken off.

When I first heard of “minimum wage” I was young and naive and thought it great that I was going to be paid more per hour than I had been. In the years since then, I have realized that this is sloppy social engineering that ultimately accomplishes not a whit of what it is intended to do. Yes, for a VERY SHORT TIME after minimum wages go up, those on minimum wage are able to buy more than they could afford before. But that is only until the cycle sets in. In order to be fair to those earning above minimum wage, their wages also have to rise to stay above the minimum by the amount they have earned through their diligence and hard work. As all wages in turn go up, production costs, based partly on the wages of everyone in the production line, also go up. Then prices go up to cover the production costs, and once again there is a lag between what the poorest of the poor earn and what they can afford to buy. And all of this is without considering those who lose their jobs entirely when small business owners cannot afford to keep paying out because they don’t have a large enough cushion to absorb the new wages without pricing themselves out of existence.
