From @Gweedo:.I just got the news at Mutt & Jeff.My condolence and a farewell salute to WWIIMarine. We may not have talked, but I always read your posts.-G.M.
From our Mystery Poster:Beautiful endCapp by Number six on yesterday’s posts. I’m touched by the campaign and it’s nice to see a couple of posters who I haven’t run across in sometime. Though I can’t talk out loud, I have the Capps on a tab that I can pop in, when I’m in the neighborhood. I get a kick out of Chalkie’s antics. Reminds me of my brother Ken when we were kids.
The Mister Softee ice cream truck did soft serve cones, sundaes, banana splits… the whole ten yards. One year we started noticing that the portions were getting stingy. The sundaes had a higher syrup to ice cream ratio and I think, the cones weren’t as tall. Ken followed that truck around the neighborhood telling kids not to buy. They quit coming around after that. When it was good, it was great ! A lot of venders just have pre packaged cones and ice cream on a stick. Well… Copper Capp’s Capers or his other selfs, relives the fun and good times all over again. Conversely; all the sympathy and support notes makes me wonder if I’m reading my memorial service tributes. ¦– ]»
Hello Cappers – I thought I would just drop in to say to say Hi and let you know that I’m alive and well. I’m retired from commenting but I do peek in occasionally to see what’s happening. I am saddened by the news of WW2Marine’s passing. I never knew him here, but we do have a common bond as I am also a WW2 Marine vet. I was never deployed abroad, so I feel almost like an imposter. So many of my Marine buddies went off to Korea, but that’s another story. All I have to say to Marion is SEMPER FI!.
Well, you get busy for a few days and look what happens. I think Gweedo’s banishment was despicable. We are such a diverse group yet we have become friends. It is tough to have someone torn away from a “family” in a premature way. Hat’s off to you Gweedo. Maybe there will be a way.
I was already saddened by the passing of Jonathon Winters. Mr. Winters was so intelligent and could make you laugh with just a wink or a turn of his chin. And he was a Marine. OOORAAAH, SEMPER FI
WW2Marine has also passed I see. Marion Stultz was a fine poster and made many witty and insightful comments. He will be missed. Again I say, OOORAAAH, SEMPER FI.
John Pike, Corporal, USMC, 1968-1972 Vietnam, 1970 VMFA-115 in Chu Lai and then DaNang. Semper Fi!!!!!

I don’t think it was alcohol. If it was, it would have been in Andy’s pocket when he left.

Marion Stults….WW2Marine..Heaven holds a special placeFor those who do the deed,Defenders of the innocentIn their hour of need.
May we someday be grateful. There’s a debt they cannot pay,To the Marines who lay it on the lineEach and every day.
I am proud to be a Marine.I’ve done my very best.I’ll stand my watch until my MakerCalls me home to rest.
But when I meet Saint Peter,There’s just one request I’ll make:“Please let me spend EternityStanding guard at Heaven’s Gate.”

You are stupid, Andy.
And we hope you STAY that way… That’s the way the late, great Reg Smythe created you.

No Number Three getting yourself banned would serve no purpose, and I KNOW GWEEDO would not want you to do that on his behalf.
