Laura: Adam, you don't need to avoid the coffee shop just because the new barista is flirty. Adam: It's unsettling, Laura. Laura: Well, that's sweet. But you're a big boy. Just be polite, yet uninterested. Adam: Like when your mom goes on about Wilfred Brimley? Laura: Exactly!

1. Has Adam perchance watched the new barista talking to other customers? That may be just her natural way of talking to every customer, male and female.
2. Adam and Laura aren’t that old themselves, and – takiing into account the cartoonost’s style – I’d say Laura still counts as a pretty young thing.
3. Adam’s lucky to have a wife who is so understanding. Mind you, she may also be slightly amused by his fear of barista-girl, but I’m sure she’s sensible enough not to tease him about it.
