Normally these comics are created months BEFORE they are published. Someone should double check what they are publishing and when though.

Every time, there is at least one OOPS strip, isn’t there?

Okay, I actually remembered having heard of Tyler Perry, and of course there’s always Google.

I guess the “bad timing” comments refer to the recent Boston tragedy, but come on. There’s obviously no relation to that. Should we stop mentioning fertilizer because of the horrible disaster in Texas?

It’s would have been a good time for the editor to say, “Let’s hold this one today.”

There will probably be quite a few newspapers not publishing this strip today. One difference between newspapers and GoComics, though, is that most newspapers deal with maybe 10 – 20 strips a day, where GoComics had 201 today. Makes a little difference when it comes to editing. If someone is easily offended by a comic strip, maybe GoComics isn’t the place for him/her.

OK, so personally earning $130 million in 2010/2011 qualifies your movies as a bomb? Do a little more research before you create unintelligent comics like this. I am not a fan of his work, but Tyler Perry has been more successful in this decade than say, Mel Gibson,Tom Cruise and/or Eddie Murphy, COMBINED.

Yes, maybe bad timing. But come on people it is only a cartoon and doesn’t attack anyone. Nothing is said if a cartoon takes a stab at other issues.

As I read this comic, Boston never entered my mind until I read the comments. I don’t come here for news, I come here to be entertained. And I was.

Most of us commenting on this comic are adults. The tragic events that happened aren’t going to be erased or made less tragic by avoiding certain words. When I was a kid I freaked out every time I heard the word “gun” because my mother was killed with one, as an adult I know that hearing or not hearing it isn’t going to change anything.

Well since he is his own producer I’m sure he laughing all the way to the bank right now. Perry writes, directs and stars in his work (which has a huge audience with black Americans), owns his two TBS sitcoms (House of Payne and Meet the Browns) and negotiates a cut of his movies’ earnings. He opened his own studio in 2008 and recently purchased a 58-acre estate in the Atlanta area for $7.6 million. Tyler is now worth over $350 million.

I am from the Boston area and my heart goes out to all those affected by this atrocity. However, all the sloganeering and ceremonies that are going on are way too over the top. Despite the fact that our law enforcement officials did a fantastic job in apprehending these sick individuals, the terrorists still got what they wanted. They put an entire region on edge for a week, completely shut down a major city for an entire day and gave themselves immense notoriety. We should not celerate like it is a victory but should mourn those whose lives were lost and pray for quick healing for those who were seriously injured whether physically or emotionally by this senseless act. That being said, let’s not be oversensitive about a mere comic and carry on with our lives as those who have perished would most likely want us to.

The San Diego Union-Tribune did not print today’s B.C., just leaving a blank spot with a apoligy message “due to recent events”.

I agree with Dr. Toon. The subject of this strips is Tyler Perry and his movies and that should be the focus of the humor. Admitted it, you knew that’s what it meant. There is no reason to over react to the unfortunate use of the word “bomb” even in-spite of recent events.

Everyone’s correct in noting there’s no connection with the recent tragedy. Likewise the freedom of local newspapers to elect not to use particular strips. However, even if gocomics took the time to review all of the strips they carry to ensure they didn’t suffer from similar bad timing… it’s not their job to censor the comics. So, it’s left to us, as intelligent adults, to recognize that some things such as this are merely unfortunate coincidences.

Ignoring the coincidence with recent events factor, this strip is just plain ignorant and honestly a bit racist in its ignorance. A bomb in movie/entertainment parlance refers to something that is financially unsuccessful, irrespective of artistic merit. While I don’t care for his work, to call Tyler Perry’s work bombs while they consistently rake in the cash due to their appeal to the majority of black America (I don’t know how his foray into the world of Alex Cross went) is just, like I said, ignorantly misinformed. But hey, if you pay attention to BC, these guys do have a slightly conservative bent, which could blled over into what might be currently (and apologistically) called “accidental racism.”

People are way too sensitive. This is a commentary on Tyler Perry’s poor attempts at entertainment. Nothing to do with anything in Boston. I think this is funny because I haven’t seen a Tyler Perry film yet that I was even remotely interested in seeing. Also, it amazes me that he is so self absorbed that every one of his movie titles has to be preceeded by “Typer Perry’s”. If I were him I wuold hide the fact they were his films, not advertise it.

Oh well…I would say Tyler Perry’s works are doing just fine as some of his movies have been #1 box office hits, he has produced several TV hits, along with being the mastermind of spiritual plays. QUIT HATING!!
