OK… Red…. if you come in…there’s red raspberry pieee..♪ ♫….
I also made chocolate cream, cos I didn’t last time…and banana cream again….cos without a pile of those, the others will all get eaten as soon as a certain Monkey gets back to town.
6 each of those and TEN key lime pies are all in the bar fridge…
Until further notice:
NO ONE goes back to that kitchen or into that refrigerator without permission….Well, except the Monkey, of course…and the bartenders and servers…and…um… me …cos… well…I made ’em.And I work here.
And StelBel … One of those key lime pies is just for YOU.It’s in a box in there with your name on it.
Anybody who takes Stel’s pie gets NO MORE PIE from me.Understood?
Sheesh… never knew so many people liked the stuff.
I had to laugh at today’s cartoon because, ironically, having spent more than 25 years in the Southwest before moving to Florida, I accumulated a lot of Southwestern art and artifact.Needless to say, people are a little taken aback to see my Florida home decorated in Southwestern style – No cacti, though !
A lime in Mexico is what they call “limon” so that’s what I always had with my tequila and salt; the yellow things are called “limon Frances” (French lemon); as to Western decor, I don’t use any (just my birds and other winged creatures) and it is funny how snooty Scottsdale calls themselves the most western, while being so up tight about outdoor themes. Everyone knows the REAL place to be western is just north of me in the town of Cave Creek. Their wild west days are fun (might catch me there in my red felt hat, fringed skirt and boots). Snootsdale is so up tight I wish anyone good luck trying to find a gas station – all disguised and big berms of earth around so no pumps or such visible from the street.
Had an extra long Skype with my lover last night, and one of his complaints was modern music with lyrics that only the kids seem to understand (not like our days). As usual, he’s right, and as usual I have heard it before. (But that’s OK, I just like the sound of his voice). He is reading up more about economics lately and another complaint is about so many acronyms that are hard to remember while reading. I would never delve into reading on that subject because talk about money is just beyond my boredom tolerance level. I agree that interrupting a reading of anything to figure the meaning of another is annoying (like personal names in War and Piece (never got past the first chapter of it). It requires a cheat sheet just for every version of the names of all the characters. By the time I might do that, I would no longer care.
Very good Downundergirl. Now come to Texas and see parts of this great state that will make you go WOW!Google Big Bend National Park. PaloDuro Canyon. Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Pull up the Rio Grande. It is a river like no other. Lajitas, Terlingua, Study Butte, Presidio, Marathon, Marfa, Fort Davis, Alpine. The road from Kent to Van Horn IH10. 40 miles. Absolutely straight and you can see all the way across. I use to work in county that was 5000 square miles. Had 4,500 folks living in it. All in ONE town. 140 miles of Interstate and I was the only THP officer on the road.I know folks out there would make a drug store cowboy look silly.Of course I am very aware of the cowboy these days. I have one living next door. He is from Boston but wears all the cowboy gear he can. AND ROOTS for the PATRIOTS and RED SOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!He ain’t no cowboy.Yeehaa hombre, ride til ya get saddle sores. (The do hurt). But I will admit I am no cowboy. Never rode a horse more than a few feet. It began to trot and I fell off. Ending my rodeo days right there. Dang things are big and they bite.
My middle son lives in Ft Worth (TX) now and would rather be in AZ. He left McDonald Douglas for Bell Helicopters when the former had decided to relocate him to the East Coast. His wife likes to ride, so they keep 2 on their property. Both kids can ride also, but daughter is into performance arts. Son has good grades but the daughter is the high achiever. My 2 older boys had the best grade and graduated with honors.

OH,OH! Even Sheriffs are not above the law. Susan is not going to be making more Nanner pies for him if he eats things made for others.
Wendy W just showed the infamous Dr Mike from an evening show I watch. Her show is right after my news (same channel). The Logo one I record to watch whenever.
Is Edna finishing the smaller saguaro to serve as a pincushin for needlework? Not a bad idea. I had some big cactus branches for quite a while stored in the garage. They were 3D done really well and I considered reusing them (from one of my older offices here)- I hate to waste things as you all know.
My next batch of veg. chili will have tomatoes that I bought with hatch chili and I’ll chop up more carrot and zuchinni.- not that crazy about the muffinsOMG!!Bombs at the Boston Marathon!! How horrible! Authorities are asking everyone who is there and OK to let friends know they are OK per tweets, FB etc!
Martha is not so sure, but Collin is pleased beyond words. After Martha received her participation trophy from the Senior’s Post Folk Art Workshop and Spring Ding Thing, she immediately signed up for the Parks and Leisure Time class which covered the Arts and Craft Movement, circa 1934. But due to poor attendance and the lack of hand tools, she quickly reverted back to day time TV and correspondence with the Garden Club regulars. Then suddenly, as if a gift from above had been hand delivered, yes in a moment of inspiration the entire process came together. Where once there was barren carpet, now Collin finds cactus on stands accenting the landscape. The original plan also included shade trees, a bubbling brook, a miniature signature rock along a rocky pioneer trail and a beacon fire on the back porch. Anyway it’s a start.
I am glad we are all safe on Ballard Street, far away from the ugliness that occurred in Boston, this afternoon. Let us all offer our thoughts and prayers for those unfortunate people killed, or injured today, by a wanton act of violence – in Boston, at the Boston Marathon, on Patriot’s Day !
I’m a little bummed out about Boston, so I’m headed off early tonight. See you all tomorrow. Stay well, stay safe and God bless…Fenton, get anyone who wants one, a drink on me . You know the regulars. Tell Red, I hope he got more stain on his shelves than on himself !

I think he did it first, though I always liked the version from Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks.
SusanSunshine Premium Member over 11 years ago
No, actually, it’s only late in life I’ve started liking “my mother’s music,” as I used to call it.
I was a rock ‘n’ roll girl…starting with rockabilly before my teens…with, of course, a pause for folk music…then the British Invasion
…and ever onwards…
But my tastes are eclectic…
And of course, as a child, I loved the cowboy singers too. And still do.

In fact Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers did a nice version of “I’m an Old Cowhand” as well.
