Guns have only a certain amount of ammunition, and how the rats usually are using it, it won’t last long enought to keep the crowd at bay. Problem is, once the shooting starts, there can only be a winner and a dead side…
percetor3, you took the words right out of my mouth :). And yeah, if I were those rats I would not assume my guns are gonna protect me — that crowd looks like it’s decided to not care.
It looks like Security swallowed the regular police force and booted out non-rats. Where did the regular cops go? Did they get rid of Liz (the one who was with Linda at the beginning of this arc)?
I like in panels 2 and 3 how our gator is looking for the cops to show up – almost like the scene in Stalag 17 where the prisoners in the camp are tryng to distract the guards deliberately. She’s not watching who she’s fighting… and neither is the crowd.
Benton,Senseless bar brawl my setter dog’s tail! The brawl started because of an argument regarding who was on the high council and and their lack of character. Now its ending with the Rats being surrounded by a hostile crowd. I imagine that the security rats have never given a thought about what they’re doing or how they feel about it. This could be an eye opener for them.Veteran has often suggested that the rats could be the key to Holly, Linda and Maude’s safety. This MIGHT be the incident that gets the rats questioning their orders. Still, given my record of anticipating Aaron’s plot lines, it very well may not.
I wonder about the Security Rats themselves…after a hard day’s work protecting Endtown from Topsider invasion and / or shooting up some place within Endtown…where do they go to unwind? Have they got their own quarters with their own amusements, or do they just slip into their civvies and head off to the Endtown bar scene?
I SO called it yesterday!Ever since Allgood’s reputation took a serious nose-dive, Security has had to be on their toes now more than ever. Hence, they’re getting more involved in more domestic altercations.Although… Them being on their toes does not seem to give them any height advantage, does it?
Are the rats mutant humans like the other Endtowners, or are they something else? We never seem to see civilian rats, or non-rat police (the late Flask wasn’t an ordinary police officer).
I just wonder if the rats have been instructed to take over all policing. I would be truly worried if the rats were the only cops/security/law upholders as they are so easily swayed to large displays of violence. Or at least large displays of bullets…
Aaron has almost completely succeeded in making me dread Fridays and wait with bated breath for Monday to come. Darn it….
I had Not thought of the set up angle, but it sure could be. If they are mutated humans, it would be surprizing if the got big or stayed big. But then How does Holly compare in tallness to the rats? like Gustine mutated bigger. Some seem in proportion to the real animal, but a few don’t. I think Jackrabbit is smaller than Wally. Do the trolls, you think they may be just one person? It’s a terrible way of seeking attention, to come to a comic they don’t like and then complain about it. Have you seen the same people on other comics comments?
Google Funky Winkerbean. I’ve found this one at 2 sites and the comments section is over run by trolls who feed off each other as to who can be the most obnoxious. The few people who make reasonable comments stop posting because of the severe bullying that goes on there. Here, thank God, it’s polite.
Flaming is definitely a way to get a person cut off from here. I mean the ones doing it. Report them and watch Gocomics remove them and everything they have ever published under their name.
Thanks, but I wasn’t talking about people hitting the “flag” button. Lots of people get “bounced”. The rejoin with a slight variation of their name (so you can recognize them), and continue on.
I was worrying about the people who just stop, they no longer contribute their opinions ‘cause they feel that NO ONE wants to hear them.I’ve actually seen it happen, and it upset me greatly when I missed the dropout, and the trolls made fun about it for weeks afterward. I never totally agreed with the dropout’s opinions, they were not mine…I just honestly felt that if I didn’t want to see it, I could skip it. Lets just say that don’t want to see Veteran “dropout” ‘cause I’d miss him—-and I don’t want to see it happen again. The discouraged and picked on start to feel unwanted, and sometimes, they leave. This comic is SOGOOD , I don’t want Aaron to lose any of his audience. In other comics, especially the political ones—-let the flame wars commence!
Classic ‘Oh Sh*t’ moment for the security detail in Endtown. A holding tank of whoop ass has been opened, and one of the rats is sensing it’s going to get ROUGH!
“Speaking of Veteran, don’t see anything from him today.”He mentioned being out of pocket for a few days, being in West with his team for the explosion clean up.
I agree with your definition of flaming. I also agree with your assessment of Veteran. I’m probably just remembering a bad time on gocomics from sometime in the past. I just see this “goings on” as how it started way back then.I’m oversensitive, I guess! ;-D (at myself).
Thanks for hanging out with me. I DO read Alley Oop. I like your “alternate” take.
Also by the way, my name is Robert Nowall, and the only reason there’s not a space in betwen the names is that I couldn’t figure out how to put it there when I registered. I can’t be bothered assuming a name or persona when I post something somewhere. So far, it’s worked out okay. (So far.)
“any thought that another artist in the same " vote factory" was trying to dis enter Aaron.Any way we could find out?"Not easily. Basically, take the accounts here that tend to slam the comic, and where they praise each other for their comments. Click on the user name and look at the last 15 comments they’ve made on GoComics. Over time, you’ll see that at least 3 of them have the exact same patterns. 1 is fairly inactive (about 60 comments since it was started). But none of the user profiles point to a specific webcomic as the artist.
On a topic that’s actually related to the comic…I, too, wondered why the Security Rats came to break up a bar fight—-instead of, say, the steer who told Wally and Holly that they should go home, or the dog with the black eye who gave them their “last warning” about sting operations. The “constabulatory,” somebody said—-good name. (Thought the steer had a part-time gig as security at Jake Jackrabbit rallies.)#Seems over the top to send the Security Rats first…why send some guys who’ll shoot up the bar to break up the fight?

Well it appears that the women kept it to fists.
I wasn’t expecting the rats.
Watch as both women turn on the rats.Someone may get hurt. But that would add more to the tension of the story.
I am sad that it is Friday and I have to wait two whole days for the next strip.

and in addition to losing respect for them, the people have now officially lost their fear of the “police.” This does not bode well for the rats.
