Dixie’s idea of total commitment is doing everything that she likes, as a couple.Because, you know, what she likes is what a committed couple should be doing together. And anything less than total commitment from her boy-toy means he knows nothing about relationships with other people. It’s very simple. Capitulate completely, or kick her out NOW.
Heck….she’s making me want to break up with her… and I’m not even gay.
No, Bruno… I once had a boyfriend who acted like Dixie.
Not about relationships or commitment…but he could spin every little thing into huge piles of resentment, and if I couldn’t guess why, I must not love him…
Eventually everything wrong with his life became my fault….the classic victim.
One of the things I love about my partner is that we both get the other person’s need for quiet time. If I had to share a place – let alone a relationship – with someone like Dixie it would not be pretty.
The question is it both of their faults or just one? Whom is right, whom is wrong or are they both wrong and right on some things?
She is still in the ’let’s do an activity’ phase of the relationship. He’s already in the 40 ish ‘I just want to read the sports section and take a nap’ phase.
Ethan’s problem is that he is young, able-bodied and virile. Give him a few more decades, declining health and vitality, retirement, a changing socio-economic landscape he can’t adapt to,kids at college who don’t bother to phone, no friends and his age-mates dying all around him, that man will beg for someone as attentive as Dixie. It’s easy to take people for granted when they are standing right in front of you. I know an Ethan, he rocked in his youth, didn’t want anyone around bothering ( read caring for) him. Chased away anyone who gave a damn. Today he is pathetic!Dixie might be clingy, but she’s pleasant and she’s there! PASOP.

When the person will not tell you what is wrong or try to explain how one feels, ten to one that person knows one is wrong but will not admit it.
