I fail to understand. Burl already doesn’t work for 8 hours and then takes the next 16 off every day. And he has an adoring slavey who caters to his every need and want. The guys and gals on my medical team work literaly all the time. When I had my second knee replaced, my rheumotologist came by to see me every morning at 7 am, and he wasn’t even on the case! And no, he never charged for a hospital visit. What a mensch!
Leaky…. the heart is a foreign object to them too.Maybe not the blood pumper but the one you feel with.
Wow…just think…..in a world where Burl is so much smarter than the average guy that he could be a brain surgeon….those of us on the forum would be … clairvoyant astrophysicists?
No, it doesn’t work that way…. in a world where everybody else is so stupid that Burl looks smart….we wouldn’t be any smarter than we are right now….and with no one smarter than Burl to talk to, we might just die of despair.
Even so, 12 on, 24 off amounts to 56 hours per 7 day (168 hour) week. 33.3%, the same as a working stiff at 40 hours per 5 day (120 hour) week. ’cept for no days off. Unless there are days off, lol.
Burl already has the esiest job in the world. Less time, less effort, less brain requirement, less responsibility, less stress, less energy, less urgency, less pressure, less everything….well except snacks, lot of snacks and pizza deliveries to handle.. My dream job, I could do it in my sleep.
The crap that the Penny’s say about the medical community is also something I am sure they would say about teachers and professors as well. A lot of “Penny-like” folks complain about our schedules…. but until you actively teach, and work hard to do it well, you would not understand the amount of effort it takes.
A lot to think about, but first I have to defend my reputation from rumours. It is true that back in the 1960s I could be seen doing some rather extreme makeup at times: I was never mistaken for someone who looks rather like a trans .. And the moves that she/he did there, well, I think I’d do as well (I do work out every day now)
On a more serious note, many people envy the salaries of others. Back in one of my engineering jobs there was a secretary who had her degree in anthropology (such a necessary trade) and she said she should be able to change places with me (who never finished college because I married and had my kids). After all, I was only “self taught” and that’s the “easy” way as we all know ;-P
To the Pennys, “work” is occupying a space for the allotted hours (to many others and those who pay them. That’s why the QUALITY of products (even those made in US) are so much less than in earlier days.
I just checked on that artist who IS a woman and just about 10 years older than my youngest child. Nina Hagen was born in 1955 (when I graduated HS) and my daughter (who in my youngest) was born in 1965. Here is a photo in front of parent’s home in 1955 I wouldn’t even need fishnet on my arms to do that routine today ;-D

Yeah, Burl should have become a doctor — then he could prescribe his own placebos.

12 on, 24 off? No.
Start at 9 AM, end at 9 PM, start at 9 PM end at 9 AM, start at 9 AM… Not even at Crustwood General.
Hallucinations and trauma surgery are not like Folgers and Ho Hos.

Great panel today! I like the dreamy and wistful air in the Penny’s parlor but most of all I like what must be the funniest Burl ever..
As his nibs reclines he ponders the direction his life would have taken if he have opted for the heart surgeon scam. Sigh, what might have been.
LOL, I’m busting a gut!
