I think you’re the only one who feels better with a clean dog, Elly. But give Farley a little freedom and he’ll be rolling around in something to get his familiar doggy smell back!
I’ve always bathed my dogs in the bathtub. They never liked their baths and made every effort to jump out of the tub. The closed door made it a point that they weren’t going anywhere. Plus, I never would rinse the soap out of their coats with cold water.
I’d say the bigger risk is the ears. The only ear infections I have fought followed bath time, and ears apparently left wet.
Vets sell a product that reliably prevents this, but I discovered that the hounfd hate it more than anything if it goes in cold. I discovered this by accident, bathing them in the yard, with the Epi-Otic sitting in the sun. Pretty sure that’s what it’s called. You just squirt it in after pulling the cotton out. Leaves them clean, too.
I have no affiliation with the abovementioned product; I am merely a satisfied user, likewise my long leathered hairy eared hounds. And all have learned to point their noses at the sky to have their heads rinsed. They learned that pretty quickly, too.

I’d take that as a “NO,” Elly.

I know just how Farley feels! (Not about a bath, but about other things people do “for my own good”)

Elly was the only one who could drag Farley out from under the bed and to the bathtub. That’s how she ended up doing the work.

Read today’s Drabble for more about bathing the dog. You’d have to start with yesterday’s though where the storyline begins.

Quick! Someone hand them an umbrella! I have a feeling they are going to need it very soon.

Our Shelties appeared to shrink 1/3rd their size after a bath.
