I was a file clerk for 13 years but only took one vacation. It took me three weeks to catch up from that one week off. it all just piled up and by the time I got caught up I was exhausted and needed another vacation! After that I took mini-vacations by taking Friday and Tuesday off when we had 3 day weekends. It would be almost a week off but not so much catching up.
= > That’s just how I’d feel (frustrated and overwhelmed, but satisfyingly, refreshingly needed). Maybe that’s why “For Better or for Worse” has been my favorite comic strip since it first appeared. I identify with the characters so much. (I even have a son the same age as Michael.)
One man took a vacation a few years back, so we piled everything on his desk – even dragging stuff out of storage and piling in on his desk. When he returned, he could hardly see his desk!
What makes Elly think they missed her? Apparently, all the work she would have done, she is still going to have to do. She was only gone a few days. I’m sure the kids want to know who won the contest. AND I know the aren’t paying overtime, much less double or triple.

I know that scene all too well. Sometimes one could wonder if it’s even worth taking a vacation!

If you really enjoy the work, you never need a vacation.

I’m union also, But don’t know any union that pays triple time. And I don’t get paid vacations. We get some money in a vacation fund. But not much.

MY thoughts for the day…. the library boss is pretty but not much of a worker for the library. I would have picked up the slack if someone was out.

Brings back fond memories. I felt indispensable when it happened to me.

And that, my dear, is what’s wrong with the American education system today.

They didn’t miss you Elly. They were just too lazy to do the work, or else the work was so mundane it was beneath them to do it themselves.

Nightshade09, not cynics, just realists.

it’s not using if you get great pleasure out of it. I really like the Elly character.
