The young aviator went stuntingAnd as amidst the wreckage he lay – he layTo the mechanics gathered round himThese last parting words did he say – he say:“Take the cylinders out of my kidneysThe connecting rod out of my brain – my brainFrom the small of my back take the crankshaftAnd assemble the engine again – again!”Royal Flying Corps song, First World War.
Must have been those night flights that Bomber Command was so fond of taking while the 8th Air Force flew over during the day, complete with those P-51 fighter escorts.

No way. Skydive!

Looks to me like Loon landed with a strong tailwind (see windsock). For those not familiar, it’s common practice to take off and land into the wind.

also, it’s better to be on the ground wishing you were up in the air instead of being in the air wishing you were on the ground

I used to watch the F-4 Take off from the deck of the USS Forrestal at night. Here, agin the after burners were in use and it was an amazing sight.

If you can still use the airplane, it was a great landing. Also, if you grease it on while your friends ard watching.

I like Loon’s roller skate landing gear set up. I wonder how often he has to replace the wheels.

We had a similar saying on my boat: Always make sure that you have as many surfaces as dives.

That is the reason for the “Eight hour bottle to throttle” rule.

Loon always reminds me of Orville from The Rescuers (1977).
