@Pete, I would hope that not all the phallic portaiture on BS is uncut.
I’ll be giving a 2HR class on Saturday (just to pass along what I’ve already learned on Turned Shoes. I’m offering it as a beginning class so those who are interested in making their own shoes will feel free to participate. I DO ask that they purchase their own scratch awl in advance (at Tandy or other hobby store). I want to provide enough knowledge so they can make the shoes (although I took a 2 day seminar) I think I can convey the information. I have to sort out all the photos and such for the hand-outs which I’ll sell for $5 or email for free (to save on my printer). Here is a shoe in progress which is good for showing class as an example.
Later that day, Roger narrowed his niche…and decided to specialize in brass nozzles only …and a new magazine is born (available at Ballard Bowling Shoes, Bottles and Books and other area newsstands).
I went to the symphony this evening, it was the season closer. They played a violin concerto by Dvorak. The soloist was Augustin Hadelich. If he ever plays in your neck of the woods, be sure to go. He’s amazing.
Good Morning All! So glad to see all your bright faces! I just printed out the first copy of my 7 page document file. Last 2 pages are sketches. I will also have 16 color photos to hand out, but decided to charge $5 if they want those, because I’d rather email the students the files for free ( price of ink, ya’know ). I’ll take 5 copies to the class and 12 copies of the document, but the rest of my class will just be workshop on leather scraps. Have to get everything packed up early this week for 11AM next Saturday (assigned me for my class).

A man and his tools. Knowledge is power. His is like a small firecracker. But a niche is a niche.

I wonder if he’s related to the fish expert.

Perhaps he can explain why the shower nozzle can do both hot and cold, but the garden nozzle can only do cold.

I believe Roger is in need of adjustment.

Where are his pamphlets??!
Even Chet knows you can’t make a dime… OK, Chet, yes, 50¢…. without a pamphlet to sell.
Well…. not counting the quarters pressed hurriedly into his hand by the ones who… um…. “just don’t have time to stop right now…”

Bilan…. yes, that’s almost as mysterious as how my insulated tote can keep hot things hot or cold things cold.

Bev… I guess you’re right!
For Chet, it’s more of a way to supplement his social security….
but then, if you have no money he’s still perfectly willing to pass along what he knows. For hours.
We’re so lucky….Ballard Street is rich in folklore and shared knowledge.

Tnaks for that song….hadn’t heard it in so long I’d almost forgotten about it…
I DID forget, if I ever knew it, the line about the monkey.
Gotta play that for OUR Monkey…. LOL

AS a matter of fact, since Ballard Street is closed off on Sundays, we’ll be on this block all weekend.
By Monday, we’ll know everything about adjustable nozzles.
And possibly a few other subjects.
Wonder what Roger knows about, say, push lawnmowers.Mine needs adjustment.

Those of you new to Ballard Street….it’s true….we stay here all weekend…and the Tiki will be open right through Sunday night.

Oh…. good night Bev….Sweet dreams…..
Don’t talk to Roger on your way or you’ll dream about adjustable hose nozzles.

Not a lifetime subscription, bev?

bev, I’ve got that on vinyl somewhere. I can’t believe that’s not in any of the 50’s CD compilations that I’ve seen or bought recently.

And with that I’ll let the wind blow out the candles.

Long day…. and I’ve fallen asleep too many times in the last hour to even try staying up for my shift….
Fenton, Sid just said he can stay as long as you need him… I’ll leave it up to you…
Sorry I missed you, Bri… but I’m glad it was a good concert.
(Pssst… just between you and me… did you go with your lady friend? Hope so.)
G’night all…..

I just came up with a thought I dare not type into words.
Time to Try to turn out the lights on those thoughts and everything else. The Cleveland Show is not helping. Good night.
