My kitty loves to sleep in the hollow of my waist. He’ll come up and “foof” at my face to wake me so I know to raise the covers to let him in… as I always do. He’s trained me well.
wrwallceil, thanks for reminding us about the threat from cute little fe-liars!…..My cat’s both promised me they wouldn’t knock over the cactus….Oh, sure, they’re cute, and you’d do anything for them, like me…..But nobody talks about the times when they get us alone, give us the ol’ Cheshire smile, and their eyes start glowing and shimmering and sparkling in your favorite colors and all of a sudden everything is ……..well it’s different every time isn’t it? Kind of a rush, actually…
A dog says, “You pet me, you feed me, you shelter me, you love me, you must be God.”A cat says, “You pet me, you feed me, you shelter me, you love me, I must be God.”
Funny: as I began reading this comic, my cat lets loose with the 110 decibel MRRRROAWWWWARRR!, repeatedly [Cat to English translation: Where are you?! There are only 70 pieces of kibble in my bowl, all along the edge, I shall sturdy starve!]. As I shush her , she (sitting on the desk next to me) looks at me in surprise and at only 50 decibels, responds with “mrrrrttt?” Coupled with a purr, this means “Ah, there you are. Feed me?”; whereas without the purr and jerk of the body, means “Why did you wake me?”
So-called domesticated felines are a highly advanced race of beings spread throughout the Universe. Dark matter is an accumulation of their hairballs. Earth is where they send their decadents to live in lavish languor. OOPS! Did I let the cat out of the bag?
Reminds me of the one he did about twenty years ago. First two panels shows a cat sitting facing away. Third panel glances condescendingly over shoulder. Next two same as first. Last panel glances over shoulder and says, “You may pet me now.”
“Really, I had not any idea that Pooch Cafe, and Poncho were both cat comic strips..
Oops, my mistake.."
-Maybe a little… there are some continuing cat/dog issues that have gone through… including the dogs thinking that cats’ hairballs are baby cats….Only reason I mentioned it.
I have a Gumbie Cat in mind, her name is Jennyanydots; Her coat is of the tabby kind, with tiger stripes and leopard spots. All day she sits upon the stair or on the steps or on the mat;She sits and sits and sits and sits—and that’s what makes a Gumbie Cat! — T.S. Eliot
Bah! cats…..they think they own you and you owe them…….dogs on the other hand spend their entire lives paying you back for that one trip to the shelter/pound were you freed them from certain death!
And in “Call Me Joe,” the avatar on Jupiter fights vicious feline-like caterpillars and domesticates their young. I think it was written by Frederick Pohl.
Just deleted a comment I was going to add to (hate it when I do that). No one will see this anyhow, because it’s the next day, but it’s kind of a record for me. I had said something like uh-oh. Back in the day, when I used to watch “Dr. Who” with my younger daughter, I would start dreaming about what was going to happen in the next episode. Sometimes I’d be spot-on with details. Then the evening before today’s strip ran in “Non Sequitur,” I started musing about the fact that Wiley doesn’t have cats in his strip. Then I remembered Pauly. So in today’s strip, up pops the cat. Also, a couple of days ago, Robb Armstrong’s arc was featuring elementary-school-age “Dr. Appleby,” and I started wondering what his school grades were like. Then it came out that he didn’t make a very good grade in science (turned out to be a “C”). Coincidence? Might be, but I’m looking forward to what else I might prognosticate!

Our only defense against the overlord-ship of the domestic cat is the laser pointer. That red dot will drive them nuts.

my cat will get right next to my face right around dawn. Then I get a gentle paw pushing on my cheek.
It’s a very sweet gesture, but I really wish he’d wait for about another half hour….
