What's this old thing of yours? It's a record. What record did you set? Not that kind of record-a music record. It held two songs. Two hundred? No, just two. And when one song was finished you had to flip it over. Couldn't you just hit the fast-forward button on your portable music device? No, they hadn't been invented. And yet she keeps referring to her clearly disadvantaged upbringing as a happy childhood. We need to watch her more closely, she starting to lose it.

I remember putting albums on our stereo when I was a young bride and turning the music up so I could hear it all over the house. That was my music to clean by…lol I could stack up to 4 albums I think and that was a lot of music at that time.

I’ve been transferring some of my LPs to CD-Rs and one thing I’ve noticed is how little music some of them contained. A lot of “long play” records had little more than 20 minutes of music on them! And they were considered a huge advance after 78s! Now if you buy a CD with less than 70 minutes of songs on them, you’ve feel you’ve been cheated. If people besides me still buy CDs that is, everyone’s going to digital storage now.

Mom made dad get rid of all his old records at a garage sale a few years ago. He had a lot of old Country/Western. I think the guy that bought them would have been willing to pay 10 times the amount mom was asking. There were a lot of artists that are long gone and have not been transferred to CD.

Actually, I’m being told those vinyl records and record players are making a comeback, because their sound is superior to even the MP3 players of today.
Eminem on a vinyl record? What a fascinating concept…

yeah…. I know. I did manage to find a 2 disc CD for him. A little Roy Rogers, Sons of the Pioneers. But unfortunately – no Tennessee Ernie Ford, so no 16 Tons. sigh. … still searching.

eMusic has some useful stuff. Pretty sure that’s where I found TEF. They have a bit of everything, some categories being thinner than others.
Worth a look, maybe, if you are looking to fill his playlist :-)
