Well, well, well sweet pretty lil Mysta aint so cute when the woman comes to surface. I have learned this much about women as long as everything is pleasing, as long as they get their way (all of the time) they can be so beautiful, but …… the first sign of disappointment or disagreement …. Well take a look at panel 1 ….. Do you get my point? And oh yeah remember this they (women) DO NOT fight fair, and if you don’t believe me just remember what she did to Sparkle that was just a warning shot. I hate fighting with my woman but I do like making out or making up or what ever you want to call it.
Honeymoon is playing Clone-Moon Maid remarkably well. Not only does she probably get a DNA sample, as DoctorWho55 observed, she also has led “Mysta” to let slip that her “memories” are not so complete (panel 3). And Junior should be pulling up any minute now; this could become explosive!
I’ve been reading the original Moon Maid story at IloveComixArchive and I discovered it to be a great story. I remember hating it back then, but like a lot of genius writing, I think Gould’s Moon Maid will be remembered as a classic.
I agree with DoctorWho55. Even the shock of meeting her “mother” isn’t keeping Honeymoon from remembering her investigative nature. She’s as much her Daddy’s (and Pop Pop’s) girl as she is Mysta’s…
Have you noticed how calm Honeymoon is with this meeting with the Moon Maid? You’dthink that she’d be in some kind of shock butthe way she’s handling Mysta’s display of anger tells me this girl is in complete controlof the situation. It is the investigative nature indeed as stated in above comment.
Judging by the ‘comments’ on a competing comics website, the American Reader is nothing more than a member of a “Snarking Gang” that has no more to do than sit around all day and rag on the writing, artwork, brainlessness of the strip(s) and express such negativity that it’s apparent that the attention span of said “Readers” is that of a housefly.
Last week we got Mysta with orange hair (5/28), then white and green (5/29), then white and yellow (5/30). The boots went from orange (5/28) to flesh color (5/31) to today’s brown/green/whatever. Her gloves were light tan (5/28) then turned flesh colored. And still we’re getting the blue horns.I conclude that the gocomics colorist is either:1) utterly incompetent2) suffers from Alzheimer’s3) is deliberately sabotaging Mysta’s portrayal because he/she is a moon haterHonestly, it’s gotten so ridiculous that I’m beginning to suspect the latter. How long do we have to put with such flagrant incompetence/dementia/sabotage by the gocomics colorist? When is gocomics going to get a clue about this? Is there any quality control with their service? Please spare me the 1001th recitation of “you should read it in B&W like Staton does it.” Yes, I know, thanks. But some of us do like the colors. The point here is that since gocomics is at least pretending to provide colors, is it too much to ask that they demonstrate some semblance of care and quality control? It shouldn’t be that hard, really. Team Tracy has provided Mysta’s basic color scheme in the Sundays she has appeared. Her hair is distinctly yellow and has no white highlights or greenish-yellow lowlights. Her horns are flesh colored. Her gloves and boots are matching purple. And the electricity emanating from her horns and hands is supposed to be light blue (not yellow).Hey gocomics, can we get some consistency, please?!
…..we HAVE consistency here – consistent griping about the coloring. This has been mentioned over and over and over….I’m sure they got the message long ago; you’re just not getting the one they’re giving you in return by their inaction on the issue…..I’d guess that is they’re more concerned with people who are here to read the story than look at the pretty colors, lol.
Hmmmm…..I don’t think it’s a given she’s trying to gather DNA…..just do anything to calm her down….of course, she’s going to need more than just that hairbrush once Junior drives up…..
Very busy week. Not able to comment as much as usual. (Was that applause I heard?)
Seriously, I am concerned about all the speculations surrounding Mysta’s origins. I’m concerned that even Willy007, a former stalwart “real deal” Mysta believer appears to be converting over to something called a “replicant.” My fear is that a “replicant” may be just another “clone” theory.
Far be it from me to forbid folks from speculating as to Mysta’s origins; rather, I think the time is getting ripe for Mike and Joe to finally “tip their hand” – where did this Mysta come from?
Over the weekend: Driving – stories of people successfully driving after just watching someone else do the job – rare to apocryphal. Remember how many knee scrapes you got learning to ride a bicycle? And didn’t that learner’s permit seem to last forever? Even after that, how long before the insurance company decided to bless you with lower rates?
Brushing the hair: Collecting DNA? If we are dealing with a “clone” or a “replicant,” what good would collecting DNA do?
A far more telling question is, wasn’t Honeymoon a toddler when Mysta was toasted into the ground? Did Honeymoon every really brush her mother’s hair?
My pet theory: Honey is, in fact, testing Mysta’s “memories.” And right now, things aren’t adding up – and Honey’s on to it.
Count me as one that still wants this Mysta to be the “real deal” – but for now, she’s not firing on all cylinders!
My greatest fear is that this Mysta is a “replicant,” a “clone,” or some other kind of a fake – and will be no good for anything other than a villain.
I’m not timmy, SillyWilly, no need to make it personal…..and you missed my point, although I guess I could have made it better……I’ll try again…..I just don’t like to see people get all upset for no reason……and let’s just use logic here, since they are obviously NOT going to fix the color problem…..it’s been here forever, and likewise the comments about it….what’s the point? It’s like getting upset over a rainy day. And when I said that stuff about the storyline as compared to the “pretty colors”, I was just trying to explain THEIR mindset……myself, I would take too much pride in my product to present it like that…..so we basically agree ABOUT the problem; just disagree as to whether anything can ever be done about it….and so far I’m winning on that one…..
Oh, in regards to the recent comments by Cheapskate O…..yep, stuff like Honeymoon brushing her hair to “test” her is a great motive, and yes, Honeymoon WAS probably too young back then…..but we have to remember this comic takes great liberties with time……heck, Honeymoon couldn’t even have been ALIVE back then, if you want to be honest…
I guess my question to Willy007 is what makes you think there is a colorist? could be several people who assign numbers to a program or just a program that assigns things according to a set of parameters
