Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for May 23, 2013
Transcript:
Phoebe: O woe is me: I've lost all hope! My quest must end in a great big "NOPE." I've fully searched the neighborhood: My lollipop is gone for good! Dakota: Fear not! I';; make things right and fine, and share a lollipop of mine! Phoebe: Is that a blessing or a curse? Dakota: I swear I did not lick it first.

This comic really takes the cake -They’re just like rhymes that kids would make.(And given that, I’d like to knowif school- or class-mates wrote the show.I thought the school had done, before, but with the “lick”, I’m now not sure.)
And with that lick, at least from me,you got a giggle-snort and squee.(As well, now that I took the timea comment done up all in rhyme.)

That’s a mighty fine looking lollipop. Wonder if they got an assist from Todd the Candy Dragon.

Do I detect homage to Bucky Bug?

What a cheesy play. Know what? I’m waiting for the crowd to be too distracted by the UNICORN to care about the play. but on the other hand would Marigold be THAT absentminded as to let the WHOLE school see her as interesting? Either way you know things are going to backfire.

This is what happens when quatrameter is dumbed down for kids. things haven’t changed. About 500 years ago when good Queen Bess ordered little boys to go to school, little Billy glared out and recited:
Billy: Alas the Fates doth say me nay.Tho wicked world wast searcht today..Dick: Do sae na so. The fates benigndecree hath made what’s mine is thine..Billy: How comes so curst a worm so blest? Dick: Sweet Fate hath smiled and called you blest
Little Billy was so traumatized he spent the rest of his life inserting extra syllables, and giving stage directions to ham actors right in their scripts.

I used to be a rabid Pythoner. I had practically all their skits memorized. It was great.
And then a year or so ago I was visiting a friend who had the complete collection. I got excited and went through all my favorites: Lifeboat, Argument Clinic, Lumberjacks, Spam, etc.
I didn’t laugh once, not even for the Dead Parrot sketch! Don’t get me wrong. I still found them amusing. They just not amusing enough to laugh at.
Sad, but it is what it is.

Bruno I can agree. The Meaning was a bit rougher than those you mention. My favorite was the Color Sergeant and marching up and down. When they get to the foxhole fight watch closely as Eric Idle looses himself and begins to laugh. Its after he gets shoved back and forth after getting shot. He just rolls his head back and laughs. And you can call me………….Tim.
