I think those meatballs will already be unedible without adding ketchup

They probably don’t even know you can buy dried basil…..

Not that it’s as good as fresh…. but the only herbs or spices they know are mixtures, like the little foil packets that say “Spaghetti Sauce Seasoning.”

Joy used to buy that but now she knows that Stouffer’s frozen spaghetti is better than making it fresh….… well…. OK…. easier. To Joy, easier=better.I’m surprised she’s making meatballs, cos you can buy them frozen in a bag.

Morning Crustwood!Tell you what: Let’s all get ready at 6pm, and NOT have dinner with the Pennys.

I would suggest that she could use some Pesto instead, but they probably think that it’s something to do with “magic”.

My mom was not a redneck but just never learned to cook. Our house had nothing but salt and pre-ground pepper until I took over the cooking in 7th grade.

Book has “never fail meatballs” and “can’t make” meatloaf? My favorite cookbooks are all marked up with my own improvements.

Add extra salt for taste, sure, why not? Just be sure all your family and (few) friends have their dark sui/dress clean at all times.

I think 3 tablespoons of Lawry’s ought to knock any meatball recipe out of the park. I hope we get to see Burl and Jer eating them. I hope the recipe has a little Oregano and other seasonings so she keeps on adding the Lawry’s.

One of those drawer looks a little like the “find it”. But that would make two.

Right now I’ve 5 types of basil in my herb garden: purple, lemon, cinnamon, Genovese and sweet. I think I could spare a bit for Joy. Hmmmmm, on second thought, it’d be a waste of good herbs.

I would say 90% of us grew up with salt-n-pepper as the only spices in the cupboard. Maybe cinnamon and if your mom was a “gourmet” cook, garlic salt.

I have a little more trouble growing most herbs here than Purple (have to grow them in pots so I can change sun exposures) and I plant some little marigolds in between to make it look prettier. Right now just 2 forms of Basil but about 9 herbs + the ubiquitous mint (not in pot) and some chives that do well without moving too.

@Guapo, I’m doing just vegetarian (almost vegan) until mid Feb 2014. But my BP was looking good this morning; I hope to get below 130 soon (and no meds @75).

@Dazzcongratulations and good luck. Not following vegetarian/vegan diet like you, but have dropped 35 lbs, blood pressure in 118/62 to 120/62 range and doctor refuses to cut or drop a blood pressure pill. Even informed him about vertigo when exercising! Need new doctor.Keep up the great work. It’s worth it.

@Dragon,I purposely chose a holistic doctor; he has me on a ton of supplements (plus agree with some I chose fro myself -Hawthorn in my tea, and others. I was down to 111# once last week (too thin) so I took back the whole wheat even tho he wanted me gluten free. and I’m holding at 112#.

My BP was in 180-200 systolic but I want to reach your range. I briefly tried Lisinopril -affected eyesight and gave me terrible cough, so glad to take none. Good luck getting off your meds.
