This is the PERFECT Dinette Set comic. Every comic has its hills and valleys in its humor of course, but I feel this one is SO VERY MUCH the epitome of what Dinette Set is aiming for. The sloth-like attitude, the undereducated mindset, the misconstrued notions about life, the manipulation (willingly) by advertisers…. this has it all! Bravo, Julie!!! An ESPECIALLY excellent effort today!
Kneading bread by hand is good exercise! I don’t need a bread machine. I DO usually buy my bread these days (because oven heat in the house) and there are many good artisan breads (I shop mostly at Sprouts). I bake almond flour crackers (for GF) but love lots of cracked wheat, wheat germ etc in my bread. If I bake, I do 4+ loaves so have to share with others.
But we KNOW the Pennys don’t really care about their health; that’s why they are SO out of shape. I agree with Pipe completely and today I agree with Leaky (just not about windchimes!
I hated Wonder Bread as a kid, it stuck to your front teeth. The company wasn’t dumb tho, it was so light and airy, you had to eat 5 or 6 slices to fill you up!
Twinkies are coming back. I forget which baking company bought them, but I read someone did. If I ever ate any of them, it was when I was a kid. Tastykake has the best store bought pastries, I think. esp. the Butterscotch Krimpets.
The reason it’s always fresh at the Penneys is that they stuff their faces with a loaf day along with other sugar saturated junk. Now we know why they’re all obese. It is a Wonder they’re still living or maybe they’re really in their 40’s but appear to be 60 something.
I liked HoHos as a kid (chocolate cake with that marshmallow crème and chocolate icing). And when our school had “hot dog days” (some kind of fundraiser) it was a hotdog on a bun with mustard, chocolate milk and a Twinkie if I remember correctly.
and Leaky, you are suggesting that I worked in the oldest profession? Shame on you, I’ve never done anything except to please myself

I tiried one of those bread machines. Gotta go with the Pennys on this one. Wonder bread sure beat the paperweights I got out of the machine.

And when you die they don’t have to embalm you.

Since when do any of these people eat anything healthy or fresh? Including their glow-in-the-dark bread?

Important car keys?I’ve made great bread from a machine. The trick is to use the right amount of water.

The Japanese call it “white shirt” bread for how white, smooth, and solid it is.

Wonder Bread will be back on the shelves (don’t know when) after being bought by Flowers Foods in February. But Twinkies?

Only eat “fresh” food, huh? Makes me wonder what they’re going to do with that mouse if/when they catch it.
