This is truly the entitled generation. Go to thetrophykids.com

Very sad experiment will be the ruin of the future.

I went to my great-grandson’s graduations from pre-school and kindergarten. In both, every child received at least one award. Back in the old days, the only award of any kind we received before high school graduation was the reverse kind, not being sent to reform school.

Oh, I don’t know, it seems to me that it’s the 1% that think they’re entitled to everything since they’re the “job creators”. The rest of us are too busy either working or looking for work that isn’t actually being created.

It seems self-esteem trophies are more for the parents’ consolation.

Of course, the absolute epitome of unshakeable self-esteem and utter lack of ability was Ed Wood, the creator of such classics as “Plan 9 From Outer Space.”

we’re still in the ‘self esteem’ age – but it’s strictly for the parents.I see children of every age and grade “graduating” with real graduation ceremonies and robes – even kindergarden and 1st grade.

The kids don’t really care – they just want to have fun, eat cake and play with their friends. They won’t remember any of this with a real memory, just flashbacks from pictures. it does nothing for themThe parents want this to feel better about themselves and their parenting skills and to somehow think “my kid is special” but yes, he/she is — just like every other child in the world.

“I believe reality is that things are improving, despite the conservative doom and gloom….:-me agree with thee-Some folks simply HAVE TO HAVE some emergency to motivate them, even if they have to manufacture it. (enter sgt on cue)

" “every child receiving at least one reward is a lot closer to the best way of doing things”-“I got an A, that means I get $5. You got all A’s, what do you get, David?”“Yet another day without a beating.”(not that they really would have)-when the money stopped, so did he.I’m still doing well enough.

Despite the self-esteem movement, or mean teachers and/or parents, or pretty much whatever, I think we’ll make it somehow.

“(they know to keep a low profile), but they’re not scrounging for bucks, either. They are a big part of the 1%.”

You beat me to it. The fact that they aren’t plastered all over the media doesn’t mean they don’t have influence, it just means their influence is in no way monitored. They were certainly material in the unremitting de-regulation we have seen since the ’80s.

Please. Those people contributed no more than the poor people who worked and died making them rich. Just because you’re the one who got the billion bucks doesn’t mean you did a billion times more work than those that each got one dollar.
