I really don’t like the way the “new” guys have “dumbed down” Chalkie, he is supposed to be Andy’s “straight man” , not the butt of dumb gag lines.

It would seem that most of us agree that the current “Gang of Three” are pretty hopeless. They seem to feel that Andy and his mates are just plain stupid, and pitifully lame jokes like today’s are proof of that. Smythe’s original blokes are crafty, wily, sly, and above all, funny! The following have no theme, just a few that haven’t been posted for a while and show off Smythe’s simple brilliance…

Today’s strip is so bad that I can’t even think of a redo, to save it!

Gweedo Murray said (via Linda Dean), about 22 hours agoI remember when PRO used to be “Genius”. You had to have it to access the full history of a strip beyond two weeks, I believe. People got around that by changing the date in the address bar directly at the top of the page. Something I picked up at Pibgorn. Some very smart highly educated folk read that one and shared information and opinions on a wide variety of subjects. They still do but the current home of Pib and 9 Chickweed has all the different subjects segmented into different “rooms” and I don’t bother with all that toggling. I just do the strips comments and once in a very rare while visit some other “room” or two. -I hope your Doc trip is productive and stay away from hay ! -Maybe someday you’ll be in that red car for real, even if it’s only as a passenger.

I think a lot of people who have been a GoComics member for a very long time will remember the ‘Genius’ membership. I still do but they soon changed it a short while after I became a member.

My doctor appointment went very well. Thank you for your comment and also to Beviek too. Yes, I’ll stay away from Hay and cut grass. My Mum was cutting the grass today and I was wise enough to stay inside even though it was a lovely day.

A small sacrifice I guess.

To me, the worst part is that there are kids reading this strip thinking that Smythe must have been a lame cartoonist….the 3 Stooges are destroying not only his legacy, but, also his reputation. (This is likely why Shulz put it in his will that no other cartoonist could ever do Peanuts, after he died)

Just for the record, I have all my original parts, tonsils, appendix, teeth! < No body filler in me XP

mikey and others said it best,Chalkie’s intelligence was never questioned [hanging-out w/ Andy says everything]. He’s there to observe, . . .and occasionally report.

Sorta like a Mall cop, just without the cares. Or caring.So no worries if the message wasn’t delivered: . . .wasn’t gonna kill-‘em. He’s never under-attack.

Yesterday I said that today I would post pics of Andy without his usual trademark cap.We all know that his usual cap is green.(More to come).

You will notice in his wedding photo he is wearing a top hat.(Just like Abe Lincoln).In my next post he will be wearing no cap or hat at all.
