Time for the breakdown it seems. I’m curious what power the HC has, if they’re going to pull the Rats to do the deed, or if there’s some hidden force that can do it instead. Will be curious to see how this pans out for sure. For or against the HC, I hope the Rats are involved.
Now, this leaves everyone in kind of a predicament. The Endtowners won’t know if the HC is serious unless 1, the executions are televised, or 2, the bodies are thrown down the elevator shafts. The HC is either going to have to find someway of televising the executions, meaning that Jake and Allgood will need to be taken from the room, or the cameras are, or the executions are off-screen, leading to conspiracy theories that they never happened. And, the rats are finally going to have to pick sides.I’m still wondering what the comment “this must be resolved one way or the other” refers to.
I don’t know about that for sure, if the only televised link that’s been taking up so much air time was suddenly cut after that kind of scene, it lends to the HC’s crazy credibility. Plus it would seem many Endtowner’s, not knowing the full extent of the massacre earlier may have gotten it into their head that the HC gave the order to the Rats. HC is definitely not a favored leader at the moment.
Using the concept of consumerism (a promotion of consumer interest) in this case the need for knowledge. The crap that has grabbed the reins are not going to tell us anything. That is Aaron’s fault..I sometimes feel that he is reading the comments and pick out the one idea most confusing and sprouting further from the plot as she stands at present.Blessing Be
I think we may be at the denouement of this arc. Hope the people complaining about things not happening fast enough stuck around for this.
This inspired me to go on Jarlidium’s site and pre-order Vols. 3 and 4 because I think this could be the wrapup to the latter volume. If you haven’t pre-ordered yourself, I’d suggest it because the price is right and you’ll be assured of getting copies of something that can compare favorably with past classics of this genre. This is a very well-done, thoughtful strip and we’ve been lucky to be along for the voyage.
That crazy High Council voice sounds too crazy. Only an unrestrained individual is likely to be that crazy. There are two possible explanations:
1. The individual who speaks is the “Chair” of the HC and the Chair just happens to be that crazy.
2. (More likely I think) Somehow almost all of the HC has been replaced with a single individual (with the exception of the single dissenter we saw earlier) and this individual is pretending to be all of the members of the council, possibly aided by technology.
The insane persistence displayed and maintained by the HC seems more characteristic of an individual than of a group, to me.
‘Technical difficulties’? The HC have unmasked themselves in a blinding display of irrationality and bloodlust…and Endtown’s citizens saw it on display. The Security Rats might redeem themselves if they disobey the HCs orders, and storm the HCs enclave.
Allgood wakes up recuperating after that rock hit him in the head. Some ones dream sequence???Jacob should be the most agitated one about all this. He just sits there some what NOT surprised.Welcome folks to “Days of Our Endtown Lives” Brought to you by Tide. Get your clothes squeaky clean with Tide. A Proctor and Gamble company. A Mallard/Marx production.(I don’t know about you guys but the female with the long hair in Panel 4 is a real cutie!! She sure looks like a younger Flask.)
So the shoe drops. There are actually a few theories why this is happening. One involves Velda rigging this up to return to some measure of the affluence and power she once enjoyed. Her plan being to make people afraid to openly trade in mutant produced foods and drive distribution of said products to the criminal element. The second involves Velda, or somebody else trying to destroy as much of Endtown as they possibly can. It could be an individual suffering from schism syndrome or someone from another colony who blames Endtown for their colony’s destruction and seeks revenge.I imagine that Friday’s strip will involve the Milk Three’s execution.
I am going to say it. The female in Panel four is Flask. I have looked at older panels and I swear that is Flask. Look at that face. mr_sherman, TSOJ, darwinskeeper, dadof and other Flask fans I know you have to be suspicious.Too much of a coincidence I say, way too much.

maybe now is the time that Mallard figures out how to use the dittos….or maybe Aaron Marx will show up to lead the rats…. or I wish it was tomorrow so I can see what happens…..
Veteran,I think we both have a little too much Flask on the brain. You may be right about this newcomer being significant, the fact that she is in focus and that she is the only one looking our way is intriguing. But I doubt she’s Flask.I have looked at some of the Flask artwork I have on my laptop (both strips featuring Philomena and auctioned artwork) and the face looks different. The newcomer’s head has a more rounded shape and the mouth seems to be right at the bottom of the white patch on the muzzle. Also, the hair color is lighter and seems to be smoother than Flasks. Also while our newcomer has a generous rack, it is not nearly as ample as Philomena’s. That suggests that this is somebody else. Still, it should be noted that I didn’t believe that the Duchess was Flask until her face is revealed. I could be wrong this time too.
My feeling is that the person looking toward the 4th wall in the last panel is simply looking at the reactions of the others gathered in front of the television to watch the trial, to see if their reactions match hers.
The HC seems over-the-top hostile. I still feel that an individual is making all of the decisions, not a committee or council of many.
The only other possibility is that the HC is trying to cause a revolution which will destroy the HC system, because that’s where I can see this going.
I can’t help but almost feel sorry for Allgood. All this time he’s worried about the Endtowners resorting to bestial behaviour from eating mutant by-products. Only now does he start to realize that the true threat to Endtown is the High Council (or the Head of the Coucil), who wish to take away the people’s right to choose for themselves.Three compassionate women are about to be executed for doing what is not (and should never be) illegal. Can anyone save them? And will Allgood ever be able to show his face again?
I don’t always get to read all the comments, so don’t know if anyone has suggested this:Since the High Council is not visible and only works via media, could the Topsiders have taken over the computers and be pulling the strings? They couldn’t get a bomb to destroy Endtown. Could they be trying to destroy it from the inside?
Veteran,Read some of what you and Three Steps posted on the underground but stopped after figuring that I couldn’t keep up with that even if I was taking coffee intravenously. The problem I have with the group returning to a different version of Endtown is that nobody has commented on it. Linda may be new, but Wally should have been there long enough to notice differences and Holly should be able to pick up on minor differences. While it is theoretically possible that another reality’s Flask has replaced ours, it seems like a remote possibility. Still, I wouldn’t object if whomever this is becomes a minor or major character. She is easy on the eyes.
See you all tomorrow.Next up (maybe)Who is this mysterious girl all the boys want to die for.Does Allgood have a CVA moment?Do the Rats know CPR?Would they even use it??Will some one find VELDA??Sleep well kiddos.
I’m beginning to wonder if the HC is actually a computer. That last panel is reminiscent of the behavior shown by computers in charge of populations in the old Star Trek shows.
