Heartless. Actually, a few years ago I was visiting friends. Their son wanted to play chess. He had me in a check that Charlie Brown could’ve gotten out of in one move; but he insisted it was checkmate- and they advised me to let him win. I argued it a little- sounded like a formula for a spoiled kid- but they were the parents and they got their wish. I still don’t think it was a good idea to delude him.
It’s never good to spoil children. Even worse when parent select just one to spoil. I always tried to treat my 3 boys and final girl equally (although I loved having a girl to sew for). Before her, I had made blue velvet blazers for the boys for Easter. Being the youngest child and a girl, she was spoiled anyway (by big brothers and dad).
She just married for 3rd time and I hope it holds. She has 1 child each from the other 2. I met the love of my life a year after my divorce (1976) and we just got together last year. It’s still one sided, but . . . whatever. I don’t want anyone else!

in the south, some aspects of mario kart happen, like people intentionally running over turtles that cross the road.

Truth be told, I would have thought Herman would be found tied to the chair or something, and the house a wreck by the time the folks got home.
