Evidently it didn’t hold much sentimental value or memories for someone. I can’t help but wonder if they just dumped the contents out in the motel waste can. Or was Burl already thinking about the future for his dearly beloved M-I-L, Ma?
….and what a honeymoon it was, 14 flea markets in 3 states, 42 ’all you can eat joints" Motel 6, and best of all, no Ma! She had insisted on coming with on all their dates.
Well, my mother’s ashes are in my “Grand Daughter” garden (which has two statues of girls dancing) with a Bird of Paradise planted over her. Cuddles is taxidermied with freeze-dry technology and Fizroy’s ashes (that I brought back with me from Chicago last year) have a little brass box. I plan to get a really pretty urn-shaped container for my own (and have Cuddles cremated at the same time to mix with mine). I would not want her body to wind up at a garage sale because some future family did not know her.
I think the thing about an urn (or marker on a grave) is to have something physical to remember the person (whether the person is human or not). I would have chosen a yellow rose bush for my mother, but the other was suggestion of her best friend, who was also my God-mother (and matron of honor at my wedding).
I just found an urn that I really like (did a search another day and was disappointed). I will send this to my daughter for her opinion (the boys will go along with whatever I choose). I wasn’t sure it would post as the URL does not end as a Jpeg!

Some years ago, I ran into an acquaintance at a flea market, right after he’d bought what he thought was a tall vase.
While we were chatting, he peered into it, and very casually said "Oh, someone’s in here!’
So he strolled over to a nearby trash barrel, and knocked the contents out.
I was rather horrified…. but he just said “well, what was I supposed to do with him?”
Truthfullly, I don’t know.

I guess the cartoon actor who normally plays Marlene is out sick. It looks like the guy who plays Dilbert is subbing.

Frankly, I’m shocked that Joy knew the word “funerary” AND used it correctly. Of course, there’s no telling how she pronounced it!

My God-mother at my wedding and Cuddles in her present state The brass box has an epoxy image of Fitzroy on top but shiny does not photograph well.
