Alice: Petey told me that people eat a pound of bugs in their lifetime. Beni: Wow. Alice: Where do you think they hide the bugs? Beni: IN something you like, maybe pie or ice cream. Dill: Or just in food with raisins in it.
A pound of bugs and a bushel of dirt, granny used to say. Don’t disparage raisins, Dill. They’re good for you (as granny also said).
I remember those little bugs in the Oatmeal and flour, they tasted like oatmeal or flour…protein for the day….yum yum
This is the time of year that little moths come out of the rice hopper and cereal boxes.
Sometimes they hide them in the bottom of a McDonald’s French Fry container.
I once ate half a bag of trail mix before I noticed little white maggots wriggling on my fingers.
And then there are those who serve their bugs dipped in chocolate.

My step mom’s brothers told her when she was little that raisins were actually dried flies. To her dying day, she never ate raisins again.

Bugs are full of protein.
My Dad’s saying was that you had to eat a peck of dirt before you die.
I have a sister who swears our oldest sister served her flies in the cream of mushroom soup…
Sorry about that.
