Could that be a distraught Wally? He may think she is already dead and has nothing to lose. He was so close to being destroyed when she was taken from him.
@Wabbit My vote there is on an owl. ‘Horns’ on the head, a beak like mouth, plus the thick arms (feathers) and the shape and clawed nature of the feet and legs.
I’m kind of feeling sympathy for Allgood. He has to realize not just that he was never more than Jake’s “useful idiot,” but also someone who let power get in the way of decency (which I think Allgood does have). He has the look of someone who KNOWS he blew whatever he might’ve had…and why.
Sometimes, when nothing can be done to amend dreadful deeds, the only bravery is facing the punishment. From Macbeth:…That very frankly he confess’d his treasons,Implored your highness’ pardon and set forthA deep repentance: nothing in his lifeBecame him like the leaving it; he diedAs one that had been studied in his deathTo throw away the dearest thing he owed,As ’twere a careless trifle. However, even better than this is to do whatever it takes, at whatever the cost, to start putting things right again. This, I think, is what Octavius Allgood is capable of doing, as soon as someone with leadership embraces him.
That gun remembers me of the guy who throw the stone at the mayor. Hope it’s not such an idiot, or that someone is stopping him. With Octavius gone, who else know the truth?
Allgood had no idea about the riots going on but JJ did. He did good cover in the beginning of the shut in, then when they went back to trial, he was all calm and collected. This reminds me of Kristalnacht, create a riot then come swooping in as a saviour and villifying the other side, thus using your own forces to wipe out any opposition and justifying it at the same time
There seems to be a larger cache of weapons in Endtown than first believed. If the process in getting into Endtown was to surrender any weapons one had (a presumption of mine admittedly, based on the evidence it seemed no one had weapons previously in the story except for when on the surface).
But here’s the other thought…JJ was in the room when the HC voice was screaming off with their heads. Is he going to let the milk 3 be executed? And for what purpose? He was their defense. They have to be set free
Well one thing. The folks of Endtown have evolved. No more “Stone” age rock tossing. They went straight to the 20th Century.Does he/she fire or is he/she stopped?
MY guess. Lt Rat from Security. It is carried by the Rat Security. The sleeve matches their uniform color.
I think the guy holding the gun is the same guy on the right in the first panel, the long sleeve and the white hand seem to match. That means that Allgood walked right past him and probably saw the gun.
I think they are going to let Allgood make it to his office/home. We don’t know what happened in Endtown after the funeral except that the voice of the HC was shouting “off with their heads” and “kill” as the TV feed cut off some time later. I’m guessing that Mayor Walt took charge and took steps to prevent another indiscriminate killing.
Veteran,You guess Lt. Rat? I disagree. First, the rats are white and this guy seems to be gray/tan. Secondly, the Rats have stated that shooting people in the back goes against their code, that’s how Al and Gustine made it to the elevator unscathed in Endtown 1. Also, I can’t see him doing it. He knows that Allgood is being played by Jacob and probably doesn’t have any anger towards him. Jacob or Velda could order him to do it but they would probably prefer to use one of their own to show that Allgood was taken down by a citizen of Endtown. Having a Rat kill Allgood might make him a martyr.
I’m thinking that whoever has the gun is acting on Jake’s orders, but that there are 3 possible outcomes. First, Jake arrives on a nearby elevator and saves Allgood to demonstrate how forgiving he is of the enemy. Second, Wally is in the crowd and he saves Allgood to torture the panda himself to get information on Holly. Third, Walter saves Allgood and has him arrested to demonstrate that Endtown is still governed by the rule of law. (There is a less likely fourth option, and that is that Allgood is a vampire and bullets don’t faze him.)There was a question earlier about how Jake could communicate with his people in the colony. There’s quite a few possibilities there. We know that Allgood had a direct line to the HC from his Society offices, so either Jake has a similar line in his own office, or one of his people is staked out in Allgood’s building. Alternatively, the switchboard could route calls through security to the courtroom (we can assume that Jake owns the switchboard operator). Or, it’s even possible that horseface, the policeman, belongs to Jake and is in direct contact with him via the phone operator. Either way, if Jake wants to get instructions down to his people in the colony, he probably has the method in place to ensure it.
After all that Allgood is accused of who would convict the shooter. No one ever went after Flask for Mole and Crawford. Interest of Security. Remember this is a city in war normal rules don’t apply.
The question is who has the gun and is he following orders? I doubt that the would be killer is part of security. If this is being done for Jacob/Velda it would have to be someone who could be trusted to keep this secret. With Security there is a risk that the person involved might have a higher loyalty to Endtown than to Jacob and be conflicted. There would be a great risk of them blabbing to the press, or other parties. Jacob would want one of his own people pulling the trigger.
The receiver/ejector on the gun looks a little odd, usually I think sidearms are left or right handed. I am right handed, but changed to a left handed shooter a several years ago, and with every conventional sidearm or long gun, I have become an excellent shot. My stroke was on the right side, so that is a plus. A friend had a skeet range, and I never missed a clay pigeon afterwards. One time he offered to pay me a sum for every pigeon I solidly hit. I hit 300 sleet in a row, while we were both imbibing a bit. I took a shot of single malt after every 25, and we had agreed on 300 pigeons. But I ramble.Sorry for shouting, but I am exhausted. Does Anyone Know the Date the Bottle was Thrown? I thought that malefactor was wearing gloves also, but I do not remember the sleeve. Any assistance would help me determine if there were on or more agents provocateur. Sincerely, Respectfully, & Curiouser and Curiouser.JusSayin
It’s not sympathy we’re meant to feel. Empathy more like. The difference is, of course, is that we can understand someone without endorsing their goals. He comes off as sincerely misguided. Someone who, if shown the negative effects of his policies, might be persuaded to reform his ideas. Jackrabbit seems to not even have the capacity to second guess himself at the moment. He’s far too bound up in his own arrogance for that.

Unless I’m mistaken, he does not yet know about all the deaths in the riot. So, there’s more trauma to come.
