Yeah, heaven forefend that they should be seated at a small, intimate, romantic table for two — not enough room to hold the troughs and buckets full of food they’ll order.

Poor waiter. One of his/her four-tops and not only are there only two people at it, it’s the Pennys! (Their tip resembles their name.)

A table for two is for two regular people. The Pennys eat for four, and occupy space for six….

Emit enough noise and gaseous compounds for a houseful….and as Mikie pointed out….. tip for one.

It’s longish, but the relevant parts are in the first few minutes (not that you won’t probably find yourself watching the whole thing….)

Tea with Hyacinth

Well they don’t tell their guests where to sit, only where not to sit. Where is their couch anyway? Looks like they are sitting on stools. I’m glad I’m not invited to their party.

I have to agree, I hate those tiny tables for two.

Later that day…. the Golden OX closed for “remodeling”… ! ! !

As I recall, The King and I was set in Siam and King Mongkut (Yul Brynner), didn’t wear a crown. Neither did Anna (Deborah Kerr) because she was a teacher, not Queen.

Anglophile that I am, I used to watch “Keeping Up Appearances” (pretty much as I follow the Pennys) although the Pennys would not be capable of terrifying friends as Hyacinth did. (Elizabeth’s husband would run back inside rather than confront her). And Hyacinth also considered herself the “center of the world” like Joy and Burl, especially as she considered all the details for her garden parties. Elizabeth was made SO nervous that she could only drink coffee from a large mug (Hyacinth’s china cups being so valuable and fragile).

What made them so similar was Hyacinth’s sincere belief that she was the “ever generous Grande Dame” of the community, while really being nothing but the butt of jokes.

Booth has a bigger table besides the bigger seats they need. More room for the baskets of rolls and bread and crackers, all the free stuff they eat before their ground sirloin plate comes.

When the waitress tells people walking in the door to sit anywhere they like – I always tell them ‘Anywhere but here’. Not that I don’t want to make new friends…

Of course they wanted a booth they take up the whole thing. They can’t sit on the chairs because of “hang over” and it hurts after the 2 or 3 hours it takes them to eat all that food.

I just had the same thought!

I thought the find-it was a crescent and I found one in the bushes above Burl’s head.
