My papillon Rudy likes to chase groundhogs. The other day he rushed down a hill after one. The groundhog was oblivious; focused on eating grass. As Rudy closed in, he realized that for the first time in his life he was going to actually catch one. He ended up passing the the groundhog. Rudy stopped, turned around, and sat down. He looked up at me as if to say,“Now what?”

I feed the squirrels in my backyard to keep them out of the bird feeder. I didn’t know dogs like to chase squirrels. I thought that was just Louie in the comics. When I let my dog out to do his business…..it’s on!!!

Groundhog and later son of groundhog ate phlox, carnations, etc. big fat things. Came out around 4:30. Set a large Have-A-Heart trap and got the big one. Went for a one way ride and it wouldn’t get out of the trap, must have weighed 50#. Turned the trap upside down, it was clutching it and hanging on. Finally, it lumbered out. Used broccoli to get him. Never leave the trap out overnight, though. Since hostas still have flowers assume the deer haven’t come into the yard and we have 5 feeders. Squirrel proof one works, rest are for the squirrels, lots of black squirrels, too.Need a Louie in the yard.

Aw, c’mon—give Louie a few minutes to bask in his accomplishment. He deserves it.
Good Evening, Crew.
