My son was dressed in his work uniform and people crossed the street to get away from him like he had a disease. No sagging pants, no hoodie, no cap, no suspicious behavior whatsoever. Very good kid, graduated high school with college credit, going to college on a scholarship. What’s their excuse?
Just yesterday coming to work on the bus I sat in my security uniform next to an older white lady she immediately clutched her purse as if I wanted to steal it then she moved seats the first chance she got. So please tell me what was wrong with my clothes to make me look suspicious?
Should people be tried in the media? It was the Media that painted GZ as racial profiling. NBC is being sued and they fired 3 people for manipulating the 911 tapes. The 911 operator asked about skin color and clothes GZ answered, but wasn’t actually sure of the skin color until TM came toward him and he got a better look – that was when he confirmed TM was a black male. What originally caught GZ’s eye was someone looking at homes in a suspicious manner – Does the fact TM had been caught at school with Burglary tools and women’s Jewelry ever come into peoples minds?
What bothers me is this was never a matter of race. People like Mr Bentley or Mr Obama have made it a racial issue. This has done more divide than anything else.If it was a racial issue that would be one thing – it clearly was not.
The ONLY people that made it a race issue are people like Mr Bentley that let themselves get conned by the media.Nothing was scrubbed read the 911 call transcript.
@CDK, pleeeease. Unless you walk a mile in a black person’s shoes you really don’t have a clue, do you? I know exactly what Thriller is speaking about because not only have I seen (& experience) it, but I’ve seen a clear difference in reaction when a white person sits/stands next to, walks in the elevator or behind another white person as opposed to a black person. Now stop, I can hear it now-‘well if you all wouldn’t commit so much crime’. Well the large majority of blacks have never robbed, mugged, steal, looted or rape anybody so when we get a negative reaction from a white person just by our very presence, what is that called-RACISM. Yes, it still exist and was alive and well when Zimmerman decided he would be judge, jury and executioner that night.

Even if the two individuals had been of the same race, what happened would still have been WRONG and TRAGIC.

GZ saw someone acting suspicious (TM had been caught with burglary tools at school) the 911 dispatcher was the one that asked about color and clothes.
QuietStorm27 over 11 years ago
No one said that. Anyone can be racist. And like Kris1964 said the GZ/TM issue is a tragedy regardless of race.
