The NCAA is a not-for-profit organization that rakes in billions of dollars of TV money. Aside from outrageous salaries for executives, just what do they use that money for?
tygrkhat40, they sure don’t use those hundreds of millions that they got from using those students names in video games on the students. But the vast majority of any money that the students get will indeed go to pay their lawyers
Maybe if the universities would go back to being places of education, and not sport factories, these problems would take care of themselves. While they are raking in all this money, they still beg the government for more money to continue to operate. How many of us can name the top football schools compared to how many of us can name the top engineering, agriculture, or science schools? The problems reflected in this strip are really a problem of society. We have created the environment that results in this scenario.
Yep, I remember the composition teacher asking us want a dumb back was, The kid behind me shouted the fullback’s name. But these coaches, are not paid by Guvmint funds but by funds generated by the athletic programs we support. Lawyers and agents are getting rich off kids who have been sold a dream that only a few will realize and many times we find they lack the maturity to handle the success.

Has anybody noticed that they’re called “student athletes” rather than “athlete students”? So which is the noun and which is the adjective?
Roger4336 over 11 years ago
The term “student athlete” was invented because it sounded better than dumb jock.
