This United states would be better off if we let Florida and Texas become dis-united with the USA.

Global sea levels will soon inundate Florida drowning snakes both human and animal, but Texas may have to be disinvited into the Union.

Florida’s even shaped like a gun!

States Rights…it’s in our constitution. The problem is with the voters who vote for these people. And radicals are more likely to vote than most of us reasonable liberals.

You are actually right. I have family down there and I don’t want to go any further south than Georgia…this year we’re stopping in S.C. for vacation.

Bush still ?? Don’t get me wrong, I hated him. But if Chakra Al could have taken his home state – it might have been different. The people that knew him best didn’t even vote for him…

Don’t blame all of us in Florida—the Legislature has managed to gerrymand the districts so that they can keep electing some of the dumbest and most fanatic people in the State while the rest of us suffer.

States do not have rights and there is nothing in the U.S. Constitution pretending to give states rights.

I predict that witin 50 years the country will split three ways. The northeast including NY, NJ, CT, PA, MA, etc. will become one country. The midwest will become a second country. California will become a 3rd country. Shortly after, all the liberal transplants from California will be kicked out of Colorado and Nevada. Then peace will reign.

Not really, in many nations a liberal will either be centrist or right wing.

Sure, in the US they’re on the political left but that’s because the US has a moderate right-wing party and an extreme right-wing party.

Actually there are anarchists on both ends of the political spectrum: Marxist Anarchists on the left and Anarchist Libertarians on the right.

Guess which of those tend to lay claim to the term ‘liberal’? (Hint: It’s not the Marxists.)

If we got rid of the electoral votes just in Texas- which is somewhere around 35, we would probably never have another Republican president. Adding Florida’s to the subtraction would clinch the deal. When Gov Perry announced that he was considering seceding, I wrote my relatives in Houston and asked if they needed any help with packing.

Originally, ‘liberal’ generally referred to economic liberalism, (i.e. stuff like laissez faire capatilism). In much of the world it still defaults to that definition.

A lie of omission is still a lie: What he was referring to was his actions in congress that, in part, lead things like ARPANet to develop into the Internet.

Protip: When parsing a 10 second soundbite, one should generally assume that it refers to those actions relevant to the speaker’s profession, (e.g. a politician claiming a role in creating something probably refers to things like pushing for government financing).
