She always seems to give Ox the time of day…=Just as long as he asks her first…

Tiffany is actually showing a little class. I like surprises like that.

Personally, I’ve felt that she makes exception for Oxford because of his ways, which she doesn’t see as a “threat” to her status (and it helps that he’s on the football team)… and the fact that he treats her differently than others do (even if it’s more or less her perception of how others treat her, at times)…=She seems to welcome his conversation greatly, but just doesn’t wish to be flung into the air….

This week is seeming like one of those shows where the cast stand around for a scene with the cast standing in different spots for gags and one-liners, a la “Laugh-In”, or even “Hee Haw”…..

She’s got it all over Crystal so far.

Very interesting this pool party. And all the young women look fantastic in their biknis. I agree, Ox is being a gentleman, and may be the one who really likes TIffany purely, and Tiffany may….??? Nah.

I can’t imagine Tiff being this nice to anyone else; I doubt she has any romantic feelings for him, but loves him the way she would love her cuddliest teddy bear

You know, I really like Ox- he may be slow, but he’s a sweet guy. It’s nice to see Tif be nice to him- maybe she realizes that having a guy like him on her side is a good thing.

Tiffany is an immature (well, immature mind) young girl, but there’s hope for her. If a relationship develops between her and Ox, his innate sweetness may be just what she needs to see that there’s more to life than physical attractiveness and popularity.

Oxford is a good-hearted, simple (in the old-fashioned sense) and honest giant of a man. If anyone can break through to whatever good may be buried under Tiffany’s hardened exterior, it is he. And she does seem to have some respect for him. Maybe there is some glimmer of hope for her salvation after all. Most of the principals in this age cohort have pair-bonded; Luann and Quill, Rosa and Gunther, Crystal and (ugh!) Knute, and now just maybe Tiffany and Oxford. Only Delta (by choice) and Bernice (by her own stubbornness) are without guys.

Tiff hasn’t had someone like him before. Boyfriend material!

I see Ox has changed his shorts since Sunday.

Interesting interaction. Tiff seems to instinctively understand how to treat Ox. Even though there is the hint of sarcasm in her reply, it isn’t overly so.

I see the Tiffany-Ox relationship as being actually the most mature one yet. Unlike Gunther’s almost pathological unwillingness to feign physical attraction to Rosa, Ox does not hesitate to tell Tiff that he finds her attractive, and he is willing to engage in physical contact by picking her up and holding her over his head. However, he has enough respect for her as a person to ask explicitly for her pesmission first, which is completely opposite to how Knute treats Crystal. For her part, Tiff seems happy to be on the receiving end of Ox’s attention, and her response to him (“sweet”) is a sincere expression of appreciation. I think this couple has more of a future than any of the others

Tiffany doesn’t owe ox anything except polite behavior for when he saved her from unwanted attention and I wouldn’t think that ox would expect anything. What he did is what is expected of any gentleman who sees a lady accosted by a cad like she was. However she would be wise to see that gentlemen are far and few between and that maybe it is a more important quality than “looks good with his shirt off”

I’m wondering if Tiff’s “nether-region” (i.e. “southwestern hemisphere”) seems a bit “enhanced” to fit the bikini…I don’t recall seeing it that way when she wares tight skirts or pants, etc.

Aw. It seems that Tiffany may be her sweetest with Ox. That could be an interesting relationship…or friendship at the very least.

Yes, it is good to see Tiffany treating Ox with a little respect, but let’s not get too carried away. For one thing, she never gets beyond monosyllables. For another, in the first two panels, she is totally focused on the punch, and doesn’t even favor him with a sideways glance. Finally when she does turn to look at him, her reply borders on sarcasm.

No, Tiffany is still Tiffany. But let’s give credit where credit is due. She is showing some class here which is unusual for her.

Ox was pretty much me growing up.

Although Tiffany is supposed to represent the “popular girl” stereotype (cheerleader, etc), the fact is that she doesn’t seem to be at all popular – no one seems to like her very much. Even her best friend and hanger-on Crystal loses no opportunity to snipe at her with some cynical, cutting remark. Ox is really the only person who is actually considerate towards her, and Tiffany seems genuinely appreciative of his unaccustomed thoughtfulness.

Luann is at the party. If you look at the last couple of days you can she her in the background with Bernice.^And Luann was also “running” in the pool in Sunday’s strip…

I don’t recall any strip that says he’s a football player” ^I’m trying to remember how….guess I’m just used to seeing him wear an OT/DT number on his long-sleeved jersey….. just the first thing that came to mind, with no hesitation…. I just always think of him that way…. my mistake…..=I also am trying to go back and dig up something else… I thought his parents may have a little bit of the moolah, as I think he had a credit card to buy stuff with for his lunches….

I would like to see these two get together. She seems to genuinely like him, even if she doesn’t realize it yet, and I think he sees her as more than just a pretty face (and hot body). They would be very good for one another.

One thing for sure – Ox doesn’t have a hidden agenda. Maybe subconsciously, Tiffany responds to that. Perhaps a variation of the Crystal/Knute mismatch.

He also wore 77 on his first day in the strip, around 3/2/12 or somewhere….. not using that for establishing anything, just pointing out there was more than one time that he has worn it…=And thanks for specifying the details on the credit card thing… I couldn’t pinpoint it, but I had an indication that his parents gave him extra cash for food, but I was trying to get the details of it right…

They make a good couple. Ox bring out the best in Tiffany. I like seeing her be nice for a change.

Here is a judgment call for all of us sexists. Who looks better? Rosa on 08-26 or Tiffany today? Close call, but I am going with Tiff by a polka dot.Try and be fair. This is a looks only selection. Rosa, at least, doesn’t look like her bikini would fall off if she sneezed… About Ox and Tiff, I’m not sure if they will be a couple…she doesn’t seem to be paying all that much attention to him until the third panel in today’s strip. And, even then, her reaction to him is kind of bland. Just my take on things… ;)

I really wasn’t worried about what he said at all, just wanted to… “flex”…. a little… I know that the stuff I said didn’t really need to be said… neither to him, nor to the rest of us, but just wanted to let a mosquito know when it’s…. used up ….it’s free time, in being a pest. Doing a story arc on the fire chief would lead to too many “jokes” about how he’s a flaming homosexual.

Greg Evans should resurrect his original concept of having Aaron Hill turn out to be gay. Let Quill come out as gay too, and marry them off. That would do wonders for Luann’s ego, I’m sure, but it would clear out the story line for Luann to find a more interesting boyfriend than Quill after she graduates from high school.

is it possible that Bernice and Delta may pair up in the future?.I doubt that very much. Bernice has a history of being disappointed in love and she may be carrying around some cynical bitterness about that.
