There was an old MAD strip by Sergio Aragones with a burglar sneaking into a house prepared for the watchdog. He gives the dog a steak which he happily chows down on while the burglar begins ransacking the place. When the dog finishes the steak before the burglar is through, he begs for more. When the burglar conveys that he has no more, the dog starts barking angrily. (Could DC have been inspired by this?)
