Can somebody explain what the joke is in this strip?

The bluegill, Lepomis macrochirus, is a kind of sunfish, genus Centrarchus, of which there are 37 species. All are tasty when sauteed with butter!

Don’t forget the chum

For all of the readers who make fun of the size of the fish, countries that eat lots of them generally consume many more pounds of small fish than large ones. More tons of anchovies are taken from the world’s seas than any other species. I love the sweet flavor of small pan fish and have no difficulty whatsoever with the bones, after all, they’re in the same place in each and every fish and I have a reasonably good memory.

Whenever I see a weight in pounds that is evenly divisible by 11, I always suspect it was converted from kilograms. For example, “The authorities seized 2,200 pounds of contraband.” Sounds pretty precise. But what actually happened was someone made a wild guess of 1000 kg. which some reporter dutifully converted for U.S. consumption. I leave the conversion of 22 lbs. to kg. as an exercise for the student.
