Looking at old awards and signs and things around my school, we’ve been the cougars for forever. I haven’t seen any signs of other mascots at any of my previous schools either. My point is, that if Nate’s school is anything like my schools, they will stay bobcats until they shut down.

They closed a school in Tyrone, Ga. They were the “Tornados”.

My schools mascot is a lion, same with all the other schools in my district.

Ours used to be a falcon, in like 50 or 40 years ago, but we’re the bulldogs now

Ah, the school mascot. This strip brings back fond memories of my old school. Our mascot was the bald eagle, and the foundation of our behaviour code was built around that. (SOAR). Their mascot has always been the same, as far as I know, and it still is.

At least you are not the Honkers like our local high school. Named after Canadian Geese who spend the winter here.

I thought some shrink proved phobias are created by events? My daughter is still afraid to cradle our cat because a prior cat scratched her when she was a toddler.

Charles Smith: I encountered an alumnus from there in Texas. The funny thing, he had never seen a banana slug and I had – in British Columbia.

We were the tigers. I say this with great affection, but I’ll be okay with never hearing Eye of the Tiger again. Played at nearly every school event!

My high school’s nickname was Maroons. My daughter went to a high school in a different part of the state— ironically, the team nickname was also the Maroons.

None of the schools I went to had a mascot. If they did they kept it well hidden.

My alma mater’s mascot is a goat.

Bulldogs

I remember that there were schools named the Cougars, Lions, Warriors, Outlaws, Rams, Bobcats, Bulldogs, Hawks, Mustangs, and the Giants. I remember those because those schools were the teams we always played against in sports(with exception of playoffs), We were the Skyhawks. Always the same, since 1954. Pretty good school. I miss those days….
