Out of the mouths of babes…. I mean mice. Running away Holly is no correction for our problems. As Wally says, I learned. Maybe she should relearn. Where is Linda…. She should put her two bits out.Blessed Be.
Wally: “Look, Holly, listen…”Holly: “Wally, I’ll compromise.”Wally: “Really?”Holly: “If things down here don’t change in 6 months, we go Topside.”Wally: “And?”Holly: “For the next 6 months, we kill all the violent people.”
" go find Doc and a straightjacket."Yeah, uh huh. She’s just spent 1 month in a locked room, and you think putting her in a straitjacket will help straighten her out. That’d go over like a brick…
If she was referring to a baby she and Wally made, she could get pregnant again. Someone has suggested they do go TopSide as indicated by Wally and Holly riding on a Krupp Dunerunner. I believe prints are still available of that art as indicated here, I hope:

I’m concerned that we may be about to lose the two of them from the story. After all, it’s called “Endtown” not “Wandering around in the wasteland after leaving Endtown”. Characters have more or less disappeared before.
pdchapin,I hope you’re wrong on that. I really love seeing Wally and Holly together. While you make a valid point, the strip has followed characters topside before. Think “Gustine’s Quest” and “Countdown”. In this case, the strip may jump between Holly and Wally’s wanderings and the situation in Endtown as Dottie and Walter try to derail Jake’s power grab. I still wonder what Marx was thinking there.
I don’t think they can just walk out. If I remember correctly, Al and Guistine had to convinvce the HC to authorize their trip. Granted, the HC is gone, but security is still there. Hard to tell for sure, but I still doubt they can just leave.
Wally next answer will be the most important one he can make. She made the offer. Now he has to make the decision. Wally made it for five years. Got caught and would have been killed. The offer back from Wally to Holly is a lifetime together to old age safe in Endtown regardless of all the drama. At least it is safe.Just getting killed up topside is not the only danger. Brain harvested would probably be the worse of all.
Veteran,I don’t think that Jacob really plans to go to war with the topsiders. I know he said he did at the “meeting” Holly and Wally attended AND I remember his remarks being parroted right before Linda got into that fight in the bar but he would have to know that this would be a fight he couldn’t win. I’m chalking it up to either useless campaign promises or a way of getting rid of opponents — somehow drafting the people he doesn’t like, handing them a pistol and sending them topside. He’s devious enough to think of that. I can’t see him sending his supporters up to certain death.
Prediction: Mallard will conveniently have a mission for them, involving the Krup vehicle, which he tricked out like a James Bond car, possibly brained by Petey’s friend. They might get approval to leave through the Oracle, like Gustine did, if it says it’s medically necessary.
Coyote,One thing about the Dunerunner that bothered me was that it seems perfectly sized for the delightful duo. If we judge by “Endtown 3”, page 124, Wally doesn’t quite come up to Flask’s waist which suggests he is 3.5 ft tall. Given that the pair fit snugly (and aren’t swimming around in the cockpit) one might assume that the Dunerunner was thrown together after the fall of civilization for mutant use. The curious thing is that the dunerunner gives the impression that its design and manufacture was prewar. What gives?
Holly has already faced death (suicide) and is now fearless. Maybe too lacking in fear for topside survival. Wally will need to be vigilant for both of them.

When I saw her get off the elevator, I thought “Oh no, they’ve broken her.”Looks like I was right. Hope Wally can patch her back together.

Wally learned, so maybe it’s time for him to get the courage to run for Endtown’s new leader.
Remember, never trust a bunny.

Ask her: Why do you want to leave Endtown?
