Speaking of before the turn…..I was still having a lot of problems with his site this afternoon….

404 errors, pages not refreshing correctly, etc.

So I don’t know whether it was completely a site glitch, or partly my giving up before I should have…but I just discovered that I missed a LOT of comments from “yesterday”(Still “today” to me right now) until just a few minutes ago.

Wonderful pictures from Bev….and some great work from Stel….Sorry I didn’t see them in time to comment!

Glad you liked it!Take a piece of key lime pie home with you….I’m short on whole pies at the Pie Shop cos I brought so many here.

And thanks, Ling. Not sure I need a Hurricane on top of all those banana daks….but a wee Glenfiddich would be soothing.

pcolli - Thanks, but….I use Firefox with automatic updates, so it’s always on the latest release….And when I have problems like that, I test it with other browsers…I saw the same problems using IE and Chrome….both of which also update automatically.

And now the problem is gone, leading me to suspect a it was another glitchy GoComics site update.Such things can affect regional servers.

I have most of my workout things in this room too, but I hide it discreetly. This is my weight bench (when I remove the bolsters and pillows) and the 2’ square pillows behind make a floor mat; 5#, 8#, 10# and 12# weights all fit in the ledge between railing and pony wall. I had to put the larger weights and ankle weights in other hidaways. My balance ball showed in a photo last night, and the elliptical gets rolled out from the laundry (around the corner).

I didn’t want anything that looked like a gym in here so I upholstered this former coffee table (from a thrift shop) because I like the carved wood.

@ Ling, Bev and StormyLing, I want you to know that your crew has been accused of some horrific deeds. I am only letting you know to ask your help. Ten Cats is missing today, and since we can safely assume that its creator, Graham Harrop, was at the Tiki’s Labor Day BBQ and Square Dance Party and is now missing. We all know that the only criminal (sorta) activity is usually performed by said crew. What I (and others) would truly appreciate is your able assistance in searching for Mr. Harrup so that all Ten Cats can be safely returned to us in care of GoComics. Here is the post accusing your crew, made in all earnestness and in deep despair at missing all Ten of his marvelous Cats…you can see that your ship and the invaluable leadership you provide is desperately needed!I think Graham went to the Tiki’s Labor Day BarBeQue and Square Dance Party, and was shanghied by Lings pirate crew and set ashore close to Stormys lighthouse where he stumbled a bit too close to her Turkey pen and fell on the side of the chicken wire and let them all out. Since Storm and Bev had just gotten them all rounded up and penned in, naturally Stormy blew her top and caused a hurricane. He may have been picked up by the raging waters and carried off. We should ask Ling in all decency (since his crew is to blame after all…) to go trolling as it were, for him,(or his body) so that he can get all Ten Cats to safety here on gocomics.

That Punching bag helped get him past the stress of reading the Headline, local, and World News…but he has yet to get through the Editorial page, so it’s best not to get between him and the bag until he actually folds the paper and puts it away…. .

He’s generally fairly calm while reading the Obituaries.

I certainly hope this works better than that “Primal Scream” therapy he was into a while back…his neighbors really dreaded when he watched the evening news!

Looks like Eric forgot to re-cap the Gold Bond…

I remember back in DPS academy training we did boxing for training. It was how they determined the fight in you. I was never a boxer more a grappler. Military training and all but all we were allowed to use was boxing. Fists up and gentlemen….defend yourselves. Our instructor was an ex-fighter with hands that looked like twenty pound sledge hammers. Flat and big. He had me holding the punching bag while he demonstrated strikes on the bag. He punched one time so hard my head bounced back off the bag. I could feel it through the bag he hit that hard. He peered around smiling and said “You felt that??”I said “Yes sir” as I tried to get my jaw back aligned.

    Dear Eric,

I saw you in the most recent Ballard Street Cartoon, and I must say from an ex-engineer’s point of view you have missed the mark on this one. Oh, I certainly understand that the process leads to results and on the same side of the process coin is; when you are not getting the desired results then something must be wrong with the process. So in the light of brotherly well wishes and sincerity, I offer you this; the irritation is between your ears and no amount of pounding the heavy bag will change this. Again, I applaud the initiative, the ingenuity and the follow through, the mat was a nice touch and will save Shirley’s new carpet from unnecessary wear and tear; however the spilled Gold Bond will never do and your roof joist will never be the same. So take it from an old pro; you get what you see; so change the way you see things and the things you see will change. The truth is always simple, seldom easy.

    With warmest regards;

    Marvin Schemdlap

DAZZ, I have been a gardener since I was a youngin’ thanks to my dear Dad’s interest and watching him. Tomatoes lose their flavor if stored too long in the fridge, the grape type do last longer. You could grow a few plants yourself, on your spacious outdoor area. Of course, with your talents, I am sure you have gardened before! I am preaching to the choir here, aren’t I? LOL! I am a passionate gardener, but as the years go on, I grow less, and stopped canning a few years ago, though my homemade Sauerkraut was DELISH, if I do say so myself!

I put in a few raised beds and planted tomatoes in the one just under bay window of the kitchen (because I can check on that without going outdoors). I have a little more luck with spices there (and used quite a lot while I was eating animal flesh – so next year!) A tomato plant gives me 1/2 dozen tiny fruit at best (short season ones for AZ). Not worth the bother.

Time to go take a soak before bed.

    Linda Dean and Dry……

I’m afraid I must side with the Linguist in this matter.A pirate he may be, but a friend to all on Ballard Street, and a comics devotee.

He would be more likely to rescue a cartoonist than to effect his capture!

We are all friends on Ballard Street, and we try not to accuse one another of nefarious deeds, without some pretty strong proof in hand.

Or is that something strong in hand… of high proof?I forget how that goes…..
