For the Pennys, it’s “Measure once, cut constantly.”I wanted to be a baker after a friend to me that her Italian M-I-L told her to knead the dough until it felt like a woman’s breast.
Why, 2old…. don’t you know she made a cake from scratch just last week?
She put two cans of Betty Crocker fudge frosting on a Sara Lee pound cake….she even thawed the cake first, and sliced it in half sideways so she could put more frosting between the layers.
It was a lot of work…. but she wanted to make something really special for Burl.
After all, that morning, he’d taken the fake roses out of his sock drawer where he hides them, and given them to her again.
They have such a nice note attached…. “To my special girl”.And now that it’s getting faded, you can hardly see where he crossed out “Love, Phil” and wrote “From Burl.”
Wow, Dazz…….I must congratulate you and all of those here before me. I spent much of yesterday making merry at several of the parties in honour of Dazz’s 45th birthday. Bit too many Mojito’s. And Dazz; you looked like you were having a great time with the Chippendale troupe that showed up!
Ma measures the oil in jiggers because she drinks adult beverage in jiggers while cooking to dull the pain if she actually bakes something. Give the dog a bone
@Gymshoe, I think I’ll pass on Ma’s cake recipe (I baked cupcakes for the neighbors last Halloween and because of another recent comment am thinking of some cereal treats. I bought some assorted healthy cereals when I was developing another recipe and there are a couple unopened that I’d like to use. I will do one or 2 trials and see which my regular visitors like better (4 or 5 kids who bring me their art and their pets to visit) The parents don’t mind because they know I’m watching them out by the street.
Whichever they like better, I’ll give to the rest of the neighbors for Halloween.
Many of the parents have been through my eclectic house but no one would notice the slightly erotic nature of some of the art (it’s all BIRDS, after all). They admire my décor and especially the garden art (where I was careful to avoid that style, though DesignToscano carries some). Noone ever goes upstairs ;-D

She will buy one from the store (day old), show the recipe to everyone and tell them she made it herself.
