Euphoria is very much work, needs a good teacher and patience.

@LX013: Euphoria doesn’t require any work, just the right medications.

I don’t think anyone can survive living in a constant state of euphoria.

Happiness can sometimes be very elusive.Click here: Pearls Before Swine (October 9, 2003)Click here: Pearls Before Swine (February 5, 2006)(Note that the name “Joseph C. Shlabonsky” is very similar to the name “Joe Shlabotnik,” which was chosen by Charles Schulz when he was looking for a funny-sounding name for Charlie Brown’s favorite baseball player. Like Bill Watterson, Stephan Pastis of Pearls Before Swine says that he was very heavily influenced by Charles Schulz. Unlike Bill Watterson, Stephan Pastis also knew Charles Schulz personally.)Click here: Reality Check (January 4, 2013)Click here: Peanuts (November 15, 1956)Click here: Peanuts (June 4, 1960)

@Wiseguy411 (from yesterday): Good to hear from you again. Did you know that the “Philosophy Wall” in Peanuts was first animated in the very first Peanuts special, “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” in 1965? That was when we also got to see the end of the wall for the first time.

Nice commentary, Hobbes. But somehow the way that Watterson poses the problem, “Happiness isn’t good enough for me! I demand euphoria!” makes me think that heroin is the only viable solution. And we all know how that works out.

The problem, Calvin, is that you either quit too late, or too soon. You need to reflect on what will bring contentment, and then pursue it.
