last year this time Gene was getting married but since he died last fall maybe she’s just looking at old photos. i mean who would she possibly be texting?
You people are equating comic strip calendars with real time, real world calendars. The events we have seen in say the last three of our months could be only glimpses into one week in the lives of Arlo and Janis. We will learn about the extended family’s activities all in good time.
She’s texting instead of gabbing. If you can find it, listen to Yogi Yorgison’s parody of “Honeycomb” called “Telephone”“Oh, I’ve got a vife and it’s very funny… She’s an old sour puss and I call her honey… But every time I come home…Der she is on da telephone….”
See, I know how this works. She used to fret if she didn’t see the kids for a few days. Now that they exchange a multiple texts each day, she’s pacified.
Husband’s 11 year old niece got a cell phone (no data, just phone and text) when she graduated to middle school last June (at Easter when I joked about her getting a phone I was told not until she is 16). It has turned out to be really good. She would never talk on the phone to us and never showed any affection to my husband (she is adopted and has problems with attachment). Since she has the cell phone husband and her are texting quite often. She goes to the gym with her mom most nights (when she should be home during homework) and she texts to him then. She has shown more affection since June than in the 10 years before. We now can communicate directly with her (her mom is very flaky) and make sure she and her younger sister are okay and find out what is going on with them.

I agree we should have had at least a mention of their son over the entire summer.
