I’ve never understood why the coyote kept ordering stuff from Acme.

For the sake those who don’t know the meaning of the word “acme,” the Wile E. Coyote fiascos were in one sense a snide comment about companies claiming to be “the best” when they were anything but! (Literal meaning of acme = the pinnacle/top of the heap)

I think it’s a nice nod to Wile E. Coyote & the Road Runner. Made me laugh at least!

Ah, cartoon physics! Where gravity does not take effect until you look down and realize you are no longer standing on the ground anymore. Then your legs start to fall about two seconds before your head.* You then proceed to fall at a constant rate even though you don’t have enough distance to reach terminal velocity.

But if you don’t accept the world according to Warner Brothers, you’d miss out on a few yuks.

Actually the cartoonists got this right – sort of. Your head is slightly further from the center of the earth and therefore is accellerated less by gravty. This does make a difference in the vicinity of a black hole, However on Earth, the difference in force is probably out in the 50th decimal place or so.

Also no effect travels faster than light, so your feet are approximately 5 light nanoseconds closer to the earth (for someone just shy of 6 feet tall) so they start the journey down about 5 nanoseconds before your head.

Your body isn’t exactly a rubber band, but it is elastic enough to make the stretch. Who said physics can’t be fun?

Wile E. Coyote would be pleased. Good Wolfie..@dflak Having fallen from a great height(a double high curb – 15" high) – it is amazing how much goes through your mind before hitting the ground.I had no intent in stepping down from that curb. I thought I was still on the sidewalk. Did my own version of Wile E Coyote.

The Acme items usually worked, the coyote merely misused them?
