I learned how to skate with my son. I was 40. 13 years later, I play in an adult hockey league and am having a blast. And I wasn’t the oldest to learn on the team. Point is, you are never too old – and it IS a great family activity.
I grew up in North Dakota. Our school had it’s own outdoor ice rink and concession stand. I learned on hockey skates. When I bought my next pair they were figure skates. When I switched, the new skates made me feel like a pro. Hockey skates make figure skates feel like training wheels on a bike.
I tried it a little when I was young. The most fun was making the costume (a tiny skirt reversible to grey and turquoise is all I remember). I used to walk to the roller rink and skate all day in the summer, but immediately decided I did NOT like ice.
I STILL only like ice in my drinks! I moved to Arizona when I could.
Roller skating is a blast. Little man is in the process of learning right now. I ice skated once and walked away with a sprained wrist. I guess you shouldn’t try backwards till you’ve mastered frontwards. Water skied several times and snow skied once. Not sure if I wanna try that again or not.

I’ve ice skated once and that was a few years ago; I went with some friends in Provo or Orem, Utah where there’s a rink.

Played hockey as a teen and ice skated a bit here and there, but it’s been a looooooong time since then.

I don’t do any sport that involved snow or ice – and I was born in Montreal. I’ve had my fill of shovelling it too.

I tried ice skating a couple of times, but fell down about 20 times. I wanted to have fun but ended up with a sore back end.

Love to roller skate! Only ice skated a few times – not that much different, but it’s too far to drive to the rink.
