‘I of course am Satan, But you can call me Toby… we like to keep things in formal here as well as Infernal… now lets get you all sorted out…Atheists…? Yes, Christians over here… Sorry, the Jews were right… ’
Everyone has their own idea of what would be hell. This guy will probably spend all of eternity “moving” while Varnes would have to watch the Lions lose every day.
Our Country went there when the last administration outted a covert operative for telling the truth then went to war for something they knew didn’t exisit.
The Jewish views on the afterlife are complex. There is, first of all, ‘Olam Ha Ba’ or the world to come, which is a physical world at the end of days, after the Messian (son of David) has come to bring peace to the world. Olam Ha Ba will be for righteous people. There is also Gan Eden, a spiritual place for the righteous. And then there is Gehenna or Gehinnom for those of the Chabad tradition. Gehenna is as close to ‘hell’ as the tradition gets, but it is kind of like a spirtual washing machine, intended to remove the contamination of the soul caused by wrongdoing. The maximum length of time a soul spends there is 12 months, and if the soul truly repents of bad deeds even at the door to Gehenna, the soul can instead be allowed into Gan Eden. There! Perfectly clear!
I’ve had rough moves and easy moves….the roughest was leaving the house where Mom passed on …..received the “eviction notice” (it was a rental) on my birthday….a “For Sale” sign in the front yard…..easiest move was one block to a permanent home.

Heaven and Hell are such great concepts to play with, unfortunately mankind has the bad habit of treating them like actual places.

For a different *(and excellent) spin on Inferno, read the book written by Larry Niven, and Jerry Pournelle.

As a service brat, the saying was (usually referring to ‘household goods’) “Three moves equals one fire.” Not sure what made me think of that here…
