I have NEVER raked leaves in my life. I let them stay on the lawn and then in spring after the snow melts I just mow over them. My lawn is always never green, no brown spots Except during the deep summer, I don’t usually water because it’s a huge lawn and I live in a rural area.
I always hated lawns and used ground cover in the back yard (under maple tree) back in IL. Here in AZ there was a lawn size and shape of a putting green. Killed it and had my waterfall and 2 little flagstone patios back there in its place (behind my pool). Front is gravel and cactus (similar to most neighbors) and a little 4’ round fountain in the center. The orange Mexican bird and lantana set off my pink stucco nicely.
I’d surround the tree with a sheet before pinging. Then you can bundle up all the leaves without raking. Unless you’re Monty, in which case the wind will blow them all over the lawn.

I grew up under 5 Weeping Willows….Their leaves don’t fall until well after it snows……My snowmen always had pointy leaves sticking out of them…..

I learned that not raking leaves gives a strong possibility of your lawn developing a fungus or mould problem.

Since you’re talking to us, Monty, may I suggest your problem may relate to having leaves that go “ping” when picked up….

That tree . . . What an ash . . .

It could be worse. It could be a pin oak. They drop half their leaves, and a million acorns, in the fall and the rest in the spring.

I do, however, have pin needles from the evergreen trees and their little pine cones. Both are hard on the bare feet.
